From the Tour De France to the Ironman to European XC Championships to Track Worlds, 3T has seen the top step of the podium in the biggest races of every discipline over the last five decades. 3T prides itself on strong, safe, light, good looking cycle components that riders adore. Today, it is no different.
For cycling enthusiast, Fall means one thing, Cyclocross season! Taped off courses, dirt, roots, sand, grass, mud, dashing bike slingers, screaming spectators and€¦ beer. Bike handling skills required. This is where 3T stepped in with the Ergoterra Cyclocross Drop Bars. The Ergoterra features flared drops for elbow and forearm clearance on rough terrain, and a reinforced extended 31.8mm central section for crosstop levers. Compound-curved bends preserve the vertical alignment of brake/shifter levers at their mounting point, so outward flare does not offset the ergonomics of the shifters. With the 3T Ergoterra Drop Bars steering your machine, you'll be giving the competition a run for their money...or beer.
Viewed from above, the drops angle outwards by 6°
45 cm model is 42 cm at the hoods (47 cm model, 44 cm)
Compound-curved bends preserve the vertical alignment of brake/shifter levers at their mounting point, so outward flare does not alter shifters' ergonomics
31.8 mm center section of bar is extended and reinforced to mount crosstop brake levers
On rough ground that jostles the rider's handhold, Ergoterra offers more lateral clearance for the forearms, helpful for run-ups
The 3T Ergoterra is the most comfortable bar I've used to date. I have it on 2 of my CX bikes (1 I use for mostly commuting). Great fit, finish, and ample clamping area for cross tops and computer. Would buy them again, I did....
Short drops, weird drop angle, narrow feeling tops
They are definitely as light as they say. Mine were right on 200 grams. One review I read said they were a little harsh, I couldn't tell because riding on gravel is always kinda harsh and other things, like tire pressure, factor into that.
My biggest issue is that I found there is minimal space for my hand on the drops and my hands are partially on the upward bend even when the base of my hand is basically touching the bar end plug. (I have medium sized hands)
If I angle the bars downward to give a larger flat area in the drops, the top of the bars seem tipped down and the hoods are angled too far forward/down for comfort.
It's great to get carbon bars for this price, but I am kinda understanding now why they were so cheap...
You can see the top of the bars basically level, but most of the hand space in the drop tilts upward
