I was talked into buying the organic compound for my trek scratch 8... these wore down quickly and had less power then i remembered (with the stock steel pads) i then bought the steel pads again and they are lasting longer, with more braking power... and i dont notice any kind of noise.. cant ask for any more from brakes

I have found these brakes to last long and remain quiet. I have used them in a variety of conditions including brake smoking downhills. If you bed them in properly before hitting the trail, I think you can keep them quiet despite some people complaining that avid pads are noisy.

I debated on going with a less expensive alternative but the performance of the OE pads are so good I had to get them again. If there's one item that needs to work flawlessly on the bike it's the brakes and these fit the bill.

I have a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp that came with elixer brakes. I have been very happy with them and am just replacing pads. I ride at least 100mi/wk, and race x/c quite a bit as well. Easy installation, and comes with new pin.

These brake pads are way quieter than the metallic pads that came stock with my bike. It took about 10 good rides for these break pads to break in and have their full stopping power but the reduction in noise has been worth the wait. Not as powerful as metallic pads but fine for fun riding.

The pads work as provided by the description. The life appears to be shorter than other manufacturers that I have used (not Avid style). They are super easy to install and don't appear to make annoying sounds when over braking.
