They don't lock up!!!
When they said heat shedding, Avid really meant it! These rotors are absolutely awesome, I use to run stock shimano rotors in combo with shimano hydraulic brake system, the rotor had really good stopping power but it often locked up my wheels, now with the Avid's not only my wheel don't lock up anymore... I have more control over my descents it even improved my cornering!!!

good product/delayed shipping
even though product was supposed to ship within 24 hrs (reasonable to expect same day shipping since order was placed in the morning), it took Jenson 2 more days to actually transfer to UPS. No complaints other than that, and the shipping was free, so...just had to wait and couldn't ride with my old rotors (broken + twisted bolts).

HS1 Rotor is great
This is a replacement for a G2 clean sweep rotor for the Jucey 3 system. No problen with install and seated easily first ride after 3 hard brake runs at house. Torque the screws and tighten in alternating pattern, and any body can install.

Great rotor!
Great rotors that work well with my Avid Elixirs. I've got these on multiple bikes and wheelsets. Go on easy and hold up to wear and tear. Good braking power for the price.

160mm to 180mm front upgrade
I had Avid HS1 160mm's on my bike when I purchased it. I purchased a 180mm version to upgrade the front for a little better stopping power. It certainly stops better however the larger diameter is probably reason for the larger amounts of squealing. 180mm version is a very loud rotor.

HS1 mixed results
my 2012 specialized epic came stock with 160 HS1's on front and rear with elixr 7sl calipers/levers. I bought the bike new in august 2013, riding some last fall and more this spring/summer. I was getting horrible squelch and warble from the oem avid pads, so I upgraded the front rotor to 180 and replaced the pads with serfas semi-metalics at 200 miles. at 550 miles, the rear serfas pads seem to be shot with lessened effectiveness and have heat damaged the rear 160 rotor. in addition, the wear surface on the rear 160 now has damage with a wear cut/ridge at the bottom of the pad contact. the front 180 has performed well with no rotor damage or wear, but I was surprised by the damage on the rear 160.

upon taking the rear pads out to inspect, there still appears to be sufficient thickness remaining on the pad. this creates even more question about the rotor, and the damage that is present. I am going to replace the rear 160 rotor and replace the pads, and see what I get for mileage and wear on the new rotor.

Squeaky
This rotor works but there is always a pretty load squeaking when braking. I bought a new high end carbon bike and after exploring all pad options we couldn't get them to stop squeaking. Change of rotors and squeak gone. So, we know squeak was related to rotors.
