Maxxis Minion DHR 26" Tire

Maxxis Minion DHR Tire

The Maxxis Minion DHR was designed to meet the demands of extreme conditions and rough terrain. The Minion DHR features ramped knobs for low rolling resistance, fore- to- aft channel cut knobs for straight line control, and large block side knobs for cornering. The Minion DHR’s single ply casing helps to reduce the weight of the tire, therefore minimizing your rotational weight.

Very good DH, tire for the price
I go these tires to replace the xc tires on my Trek to give it a more aggressive bite DH. I guess i got lost in the low price to not see that they do not fold and are noticeably heavy. I live in Korea so i do a lot of mountain climbing before i descend and the tires weight and resistance do slow me down a lot. That being said the tires perform great going down hill and have made me even better at climbing because of all the more heavy peddling i do now. If you need a great cheap DH only tires these are a place to start.

PROS: Attractive Design, Durable, Very Sticky

CONS: Heavy, Not Flexible, A Lot Of Resistence

BEST USES: Mountain Biking, DH

Bombproof Reliability + Unreal Traction
Super unreal traction.... this plus it's bombproof qualities, give you so much confidence to just roll over and literally smash anything in the path of your FR/DH bike. Wanna ride Urban FR with lotsa hard edges? No problem. Just make sure you got enough PSI in there and smash both down and UP stairs! Wanna ride trails on your FR bike? No problemo, run 20 psi and you got monster truck traction front and rear! The rubber used in the tyre itself is super tacky, gives you so much traction. Only 2 complaints I have: The 2.5" Maxxis makes is undersized.... :( it's more like a 2.3"! Plus it's a 1.2kg beast of a tyre.

PROS: Thick Sidewalls, Bombproof, Unreal Traction

CONS: Heavy, Undersized

BEST USES: Rock gardens, Fr, DH, Urban Fr

Grip for days!
used these for a whole DH season and saved me from multiple pinch flats. only bad part is that a full set of tires is a lot of $$$. totally worth the money at the end of the day though!

PROS: Grippy, Saves From Pinch Flats

CONS: Expensive

BEST USES: Fr, DH

Great tires
These are my go-to tires, they hold up to abuse, I can run low tire pressure, and they perform well in the conditions I'm use to which are a lot of dry dusty dirt and rocks (Colorado).

Very good, reliable tire
Very good, reliable tire. Very comfortable railing all kinds of terrain with these on. I keep coming back for more sets and have yet to be disappointed. Fits well on the rim without being too difficult to change a tube trailside.Well suited to aggressive riding styles.

Grip all over...
These tires offer tremendous grip in New England conditions. Rocky, rooty, often moist, sometimes loamy soil. Going from my previous Michelins to these was like night and day.

Beyond the simple grip is the progressiveness they exhibit at the limit. There's no "on/off" with the grip, they enter a predictable drift at the limit that is very easy to detect and control.

I can't think of a single thing not to like about these tires other than perhaps their weight and rolling resistance, but unless you're racing at the top level you won't notice it.

PROS: Grip, Treadlife, Puncture resistance

Maxxis Minion DHR Tire review
I am very satisfied with the purchase of these tires. Previous tires were Maxxis High Roller. Can't beat the price. Almost worth the extra charged to ship them.
