The Surly Nate is a go- anywhere, do- anything tire. The casing is round and supple at 120 TPI. The tall, widely spaced knobs are siped for added grip and compliance, which optimizes their grip. The knob’s wide spacing means they dig deep into the terrain for optimal traction. The tire has tread wrapped around the sides which provides traction in hard turns.

  • More aggressive tread than other Surly fat tires
  • Tall, widely spaced knobs with siping
  • Tread wraps around the side of the tire a bit
  • PSI: 5-30 PSI
  • Tire Bead: Steel

Comments about Surly Nate 27 TPI Tire:

I bought this tire as a bit of a test - to put on the front of my recently purchased used Charge Cooker Maxi fatbike. The Vee 8's that came stock and the Vee Missions that the previous owner included both tend to grab the trail (road is really bad) when turned or leaned, causing the bike to want to continue the turn into a spiral of crashiness. I understand the most commonly used term is "self steer". This Nate was the cheapest option, with only 27 threads per inch (TPI) and (I think) a metal bead. Nevertheless it did the trick. I think my plan for dirt is to eventually put it on the back, and put an even fatter tire on the front, like a Larry, Lou or Bud - or perhaps the Husker Du - gotta do my research - although I might purchase another "cheap" Nate for the back. Fat tires are expensive. had I gone with even the 60 TPI this purchase would have raised the money I have into this thing by 10%
