Bronze Professional Bicycle Assembly by Jenson USA

Every bicycle sold by Jenson USA includes free assembly by our trained mechanics prior to shipment. The build level will vary based on the bike you select and is identical to the quality work we perform on bicycles sold in-person at our physical locations.

Our Bronze Build is ideal for bicycles that arrive to Jenson USA in "Dealer Ready" condition (this is the same way that bikes arrive to your local bike shop from most major brands - about 90% pre-assembled, but not quite ready to ride). When you select our Bronze build, we will open the manufacturer's box, remove your bike, and place it on a workstand for tuning. This is the "last 10%" that turns a "Dealer Ready" bike into a ready to ride bike. We'll then partially disassemble your bike so that it fits back in the shipping container. Upon arrival, you'll need to unpack and then perform some basic re-assembly tasks to get your new bike ready to ride.

Our Bronze build includes:

  • Tune and check of bikes that arrive at Jenson USA in Dealer-Ready condition
  • General inspection
  • Tune/adjust shifting
  • Tune/adjust brakes

Unpacking and Assembling your new bike

Every bike is slightly diferent, but you will likely need to:

  • Install the pedals
  • Install the front wheel
  • Straighten, then tighten in place the handlebar stem (note: we often turn the fork around 180 degrees so that your bike fits into the shipping container. Upon delivery, it may appear that the fork is "backwards" - but all you need to do it spin it 180 degrees. As always, please call us at (888) 880-3811 if you need any guidance to complete assembly.)
  • Install rear derailleur
  • Install the seatpost and adjust to height
  • Set tires (and air suspension, if applicable) to your preferred pressure

This video illustrates a typical reassembly. While a Rocky Mountain bike is pictured, most bicycles share a common assembly process regardless of brand.

Getting Help

If you need any guidance to complete assembly, please don't hesistate to contact us. We employ only bicycle experts on our customer support team and they are standing by to assist you.

Caring for your new bike

Every bicycle, from $10 to $10,000 needs ongoing care and maintenance. Cables stretch, brake pads wear, etc. 30 days is a good "break-in" period for most riders. If you're local to Jenson USA, please bring your bike back to us for a complimentary 30-day safety check and tune-up. Not nearby? Don't worry, even just doing the basics will enhance performance and extend the lifespan of your new bike:

  • Always inflate tires to their proper pressure
  • Clean and lubricate your chain on a regular basis
  • Sloppy shifting? You may need to take the slack out of a cable that has stretched, a 60-second repair. Our partners at Park Tool have a great illustrated guide for this procedure.

I found this service to be extremely convenient and was pleased to find out that it was included at no charge. When i recieved my bike, all that had to be done was to install the front wheel, seat post and handlebar. My one big concern was if the brakes had been bled correctly. So far i havent had anything come loose or lost beak pressure. The gears are well adjusted and the bike is extremely lean. Thanks to the bike bulders at JensonUSA.

This aspect of my customer service experience with Jenson was the only let down. As an ebay customer I have a Teal star and have a 100% positive feedback rating. I do not like to complain. BUT...whomever assembled my bike did not complete the checklist which came with the bike or put their name on it for that matter. This attention to detail becomes apparent with closer inspection. A zip tie (pictured) has been substituted as a means to secure the cable for my rear brake. The other cable stays are secured with factory snaps. This signifies a issue that was noted with the rear brake yet nothing was done about it. The rear brake was spongy and practically useless out of the box. I got in touch with Jenson and they offered to pay for a shop to fix it. Unfortunately the nearest shop is a 4 hour drive and I want to be out riding my bike. Hence why I went with Jenson and the Bronze Build in the first place. Jenson sent me a bleeder kit and hinted that a discount or what have you may be in order. The bleeder kit arrived alone...no discount or gift card which I guess I didn't pursue aggressively enough. I have yet to fix my brake as I am not mechanically gifted and haven't found the time as of yet. I feel like Jenson really dropped the ball on this one.

Took some of the initial hassle away.

Comments about Bike Build - Bronze Level Assembly:

The Alan wrench set that was supposed to come with the bike was missing, also, had to add in the last handlebar spacer. The derailer was not attached to the frame, which is not a trivial thing to attach for a novice cyclist like me. Overall, it's probably worth it if you are new to cycling.

Worthless

Comments about Bike Build - Bronze Level Assembly:

Well if I could ride my bike I would rate the bike also. Since the bike arrived with parts missing and a bent front disk brake. After multiple tries at getting it corrected i went to the manufacture to see if they can get me riding before another month goes by. Sorry but Jenson you deserve a ZERO for customer service and a ZERO for your product that you are selling "Bike Build".

Its Bronze, not Gold

Comments about Bike Build - Bronze Level Assembly:

The packaging for shipping was well done; assembly takes maybe 15-20 minutes. Everything is ready to go once you set the handlebars, wheels/brakes and seat.

My only reservation: immediately upon assembly, after a few minutes of riding, I had to adjust the front derailleur to eliminate a rub on the large ring. Not a huge deal, and easily done. But, don't expect to take it out of the box and hop on for a long ride -- you may have to tweak it a bit.

Comments about Bike Build - Bronze Level Assembly:

The Bronze build is exactly as they describe. Make sure you watch their video on what you need to do to finish assembly BEFORE you order the bike. I did so I knew what tools I needed. 20-30 minutes and your new bike will be on the road!

Basic to the point you will need to spend more later

By MTB Enthusiast

Comments about Bike Build - Bronze Level Assembly:

I got this "bronze build" assembly for "free" with a carbon road bike. I have bought other bikes online, and this was useless. The bike comes with the basic stuff in place, but gears and brakes are far from tuned. You will have to spend some time (or money) to get them in place. I just don't understand why go through all the basic setup of the bike and NOT get it tuned already. And I don't get why advertise it as something special while other online shops do all the FULL assembly for free - I think it is just a way to try to upsell the gold assembly for something others are not charging.

Comments about Bike Build - Bronze Level Assembly:

Brakes were not set up very well and after my first ride (12.8 miles) when I got back to my truck the non drive side crank arm was almost dangling.Went over the whole bike when I got home and everything else was fine. Don't know that I would blame Jensen for the crank but it should have been checked.

You get what you pay for

Comments about Bike Build - Bronze Level Assembly:

After receiving the bike, it was easy to put the remaining pieces together, however the derailleur was set up poorly and was hitting against the chain as well as causing the chain to jump off when shifting. I had to take it in to a bike shop and get it adjusted properly before it would work appropriately. Also the bike shifter cables were ran weird and caused a lot of tension when trying to shift once the handle bars were attached, so we re-ran the cables also.

  • Q:

    Hi,

I'm lookjng at a Kestrel Talon road bike, and see that Kestrel requires a bike shop to assemble to keep the warrantee.

Does your Bronze bike assembly count for this? I see that is included with the purchase. I've seen reference to needing a 'bike shop sticker' to show that it was assembled by a Kestrel dealer. Do you put such a sticker on the bike, even if re-shipping it?

I ask because there is no Jenson store near me (Sacramento, CA) but would like to preserve the warrantee.

    Thanks much,
