Shimano F01A Resin Disc Brake Pads

It’s your worst nightmare. You’re hauling down the trail, coming in hot to an unfamiliar corner. Round the apex and in your way is a jumbled mess of rocks, glass, and what may very likely be fresh horse droppings. There is no way you want to run into that stuff. You grab a handful of brake lever but nothing happens. Soft, squishy, and underpowered, there’s no missing it now. You plow into the mess of debris and down you go. Replace those worn out pads with genuine Shimano F01A Resin Disc Brake Pads and next time, have the control you need to steer clear of what may lie around the bend.

Resin pads mean maximum initial bite, excellent modulation and quiet operation. Pair these finned pads with your Shimano Ice-Tech rotors and you'll have maximum cooling performance to keep your braking performance even and predictable even on long descents.

Shimano F01A Resin Disc Brake Pads Specifications:

  • Aluminum Ice-Tech Cooling Fins
  • Resin Pad Material for maximum initial bite, smooth modulation and low brake noise
  • One package contains pads, spring and retaining clip for one brake caliper. You will need to buy two pad sets for a whole bike.

Compatible with these Shimano brake calipers:

  • XTR BR-M9000
  • XTR BR-M9020
  • XTR BR-M987
  • XTR BR-M985
  • Deore XT BR-M785
  • SLX BR-M675

These are great pads. I've gone through 3 sets of these, and have no desire to replace them with an aftermarket brand. I live in a hilly area where I commute by bike, and also ride very steep trails. I weigh 190lb with gear. These brakes usualy last about 2,000mi on the front and 1,000mi on the rear. Thankfully SLX675 brakes make the pads a piece of cake to change (unlike AVID's where you pretty much just throw them away when the pads wear out!).

This may be my second review on these. Resin pads wear out fast. They are quiet. I've recently purchased a Pivot 429 Trail which came with XTR Trail brakes and metallic pads. Like them a whole lot more.
Prices for resin pads are now $15 which makes high wear more tolerable.
I'm kinda over the Shimano brake thing after some friends really like the new SRAM Guides.

Great set of pads that stay nice in quiet in all conditions. Not as durable but it is a trade of for what you want to hear or not hear while ripping down the trail.

Comments about Shimano F01A Resin Disc Brake Pads:

The resin pads are my go to brake pad, with or without (race) the added cooling fins. The weight penalty for the fins are negligible so I usually run them. The pads with an IceTech rotor are whisper quiet, to me there is nothing more annoying than squeaky brakes.

I had problems with metallic break pads squealing and screeching. Once I switched to resin I have had no issues. That pads don't last as long but it's a fair trade off!
