Breezer Cloud 9 Carbon XT Jenson Bike

Breezer Cloud 9 Shimano XT 11 Speed Jenson Bike

A carbon frame designed to ride like steel

Those who have had the great pleasure of riding a steel bike, know that there is a certain quality to them that, while not always easy to describe, we know it’s there. This certain lively or supple quality does not always translate into other materials but, Joe Breezer took the challenge and, with the Breezer Cloud 9 he attempted to create a carbon frame that will ride and feel more like steel. Breezer claims that the right carbon layup in combination with long, uninterrupted tubes does the trick and it seems that many riders approve and are in agreement that it is a great success.

Your Breezer Cloud 9 will arrive on your doorstep with a group of components hand selected by yours truly, Jenson USA. A Shimano XT 11 speed drivetrain handle the gears while a set of XT hydraulic disc brakes handle the fears. A Race Face Aeffect Cinch crankset helps to deliver your pedal power straight to the Race Face Aeffect wheels that are wrapped in some wide 2.4 inch Continental X-King rubber. The cockpit is comprised of a Race Face stem, Race Face Ride handle bar and the Race Face Evolve seatpost is topped with a SDG Falcon saddle.

Singletracks - "Based on my test rides, the Cloud 9 felt much more supple than the carbon Superfly Elite despite similar geometry and materials and offered a much more comfortable, enjoyable ride."- Jeff Barber

Checks All the Boxes!
Great bang for the buck. Top components and a frame with excellent build quality. My other bike is a 130mm travel DS carbon frame and I wanted a carbon hardtail as well. With Chester pedals this weighs 24.8 lbs. for a Large frame (I'm 6'2" with 34" inseam). With a 4" shorter wheelbase than the DS, it has a much quicker turn in than I'd gotten used to on the DS, but not so much that it feels twitchy. This is the first 1X I've ridden and I think I'll swap over to that on the DS one of these days. It has all the gear range I need around here - mostly rolling single track in AL, TN, NC. I'm running about 125lbs in the fork and can get nearly 3 inches of travel compression after about 20% sag. The tires grip well but start to slide a little when leaned over in a sandy turn. When these wear out I'll go to the Ikons like I have on the other bike. It climbs wonderfully, not surprisingly for a 29er hardtail. Finally, the bike was perfectly setup out of the box. All I've done is fiddle with the seat height a little and moved the shift lever inboard about 1/2" - personal preference stuff. Wheels were true, derailleur aligned, headset tight. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this in my internet search and saved $1300 over a comparable brand "T" model that was on their end of year sale locally. Great job Jenson!

Cloud 9 is Right!
I ride Mount Tamalpais almost every day. I live on the slope. I am lucky. Its steep and has its share of technical spots, but mostly its beautiful and fast. I ride a fleet of bikes up there depending on the route, weather and surface. After just a few weeks putting the Cloud 9 to the test, I can say that it covers the terrain better that any other combination of hardtail and softail in my shop. It climbs beautifully and descends comfortably from the rock gardens of upper Eldgridge or Pine Mountain to the bitch-slaps of Windy Ridge. Great mix of good performing components and a well engineered frame. I love this black on black too. They got it right with this bike.

In the clouds
Bike came in a few days. Put the seat post in, slapped on the wheels and pedals. Down the trail. The only adjustment I made was the seat post height. Everything else was dialed. It took longer to unwrap the packaging than it did to complete the build.

Great so far!
My primary thought while riding this bike was "I feel like I've been riding this bike for years". It took very little getting used to it. It just felt very comfortable right away.
It took me 20 minutes to assemble from the box, and then I was hitting the trails.

That simple.

Great Deal
I am 5'11" and 190 lbs. I read the reviews and went with the medium size 18.5. I am glad I did because it fits great. I just started racing again and I was racing XC with a santa cruz bullit 2001, 32.5 lbs. What a difference. I lost 10 lbs since last year so i figured I deserved a bike that was lighter. I weighed it with LX pedals and it was just just under 25 lbs. I actually placed in the last two races. I crashed pretty badly on my last race but the bike stood up to the abuse. No dents or scratches- only on me (5 stitches and a bruised thigh. Finished the race though. It is pleasure riding this bike. Its fast and I enjoy the 29er going uphill over roots etc. It goes over stuff that would stop me on the old bike. Downhill is a little more tricky but it is what it is. I am used to a downhill bike so the drop form 150mm to 100 mm makes a difference especially with the hard tail but again it is fun to ride and I am learning to use better lines for XC downhill. Great build. Kind of cool because I upgrade the Bullit to 1 X 11 Xt and this bike came with the same. The SID shock is fantastic for a bike at this price. I could not find anything comparable at this price at the local LBS so I risked it and bought on line. No regrets. Needs some tweaks but all in al a happy camper.

Back in Black!
Assembly directions/references would have been helpful. Brakes were soft on initial ride. Had LBS bleed however still lacking in response. Will bleed brakes lines once more prior to trail ride.

How's the sizing? I'm 5' 11" with a 31-32 inseam.
A shopper on Feb 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Go with medium. I am the same dimension and it fits me great.
Will you have any 17's in stock again?

Is it tubeless ready?
A shopper on Feb 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I may not be the perfect person to answer this as I mostly ride (not wrench). When I received the bike I put it together and immediately took it to my mechanic (who is really knowledgeable). The rim/tire are not officially tuneless ready (in a certified way). However, we took the tubes out, added sealant and it has been fine for months. The first week I had to spin the tire often to encourage the spread of the sealant to fill all the micro sized holes the tire has. But yeah, works just like a real tubeless ready system. It's up to you, if you are nervous ask Jenson to switch the tire to some sort of tubeless ready tire so the sealant process is a snap. The bike is awesome (for the price especially). -Shawn
Will a tire wider than 2.4 fit?
A shopper on Dec 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The mountain kings that came on mine say 2.4, but they are really 2.25s. The black chili compound 2.4s are 2.4. You can easily run bigger up front, but the chain stays won't have any clearance if you put a true 2.4 on it. If you ride anywhere where the soil is sticky or you bend your wheel slightly you will be rubbing the frame. Put stans in your tires so you can run lower psi and you will be good with the stock tires. I bought bigger tires, but never put them on.
how long is the stem?
A shopper on May 1, 2017
I'm 6'2" with a 35" inseam. I'm comfortable on most XL 29ers, but the stand over listed for the Cloud 9 (33.3") is a little intimidating. Can I fit on the 21" Cloud 9, or do they run large? Thanks for the help.
A shopper on Mar 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: My inseam is 30" I'm glad I got the 17" and not the 18.5". The frame and the high almost same as my roubaix 56.
I agree it seems they run large. You likely be ok on 19.5".
Hope this will help.
Does it come with pedals?
A shopper on Jan 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It doesn't include pedals
The Raceface crank and chainring looks like a one piece set-up in the photo. Can the chainring be switched out to a smaller size? (i.e from 32 tooth to 30 tooth?)
Dave C on Oct 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I changed mine out. It's a RaceFace N/W cinch direct mount ring.

You need a Compact Crank puller and a bottom bracket tool. It's a quick job with the right tools. Very happy with this bike!

Does anyone know the diameter of the seatpost? Would be good to know what type of dropper post would serve this bike well.

This is a 31.6mm seatpost. We will update the product description ASAP.
