The Brooks B17 is an English made leather saddle that has truly stood the test of time. Being Brooks' flagship model for over 100 years, the B17 has been the go-to leather saddle for long distance touring, trekking, and all-terrain use. The Imperial edition features a cutout to reduce perineal pressure. Another distinctive feature of the B17 Imperial are the perforations along the lower edge of the leather sides, which are threaded together one side to the other by a lace. This can be adjusted to help maintain the saddle's shape and provide comfort in the long term. Tying the leather lace tightly pulls the sides of the saddle closer together, conversely loosening the lace enables the saddle sides to splay slightly further apart. This sideways fine-tuning of the B17 Imperial is of course in addition to the usual fore-and-aft tensioning mechanism common to all Brooks Saddles.
Cyclist of any ilk can appreciate a comfortable saddle as it's one of few actual contact points when riding a bicycle. One thing anyone who's ridden a Brooks saddle will tell you is that they really do improve with age; by treating the leather properly and simply putting in miles, the saddle will begin to break-in and form to the rider's seat bones creating a comfortable and personalized riding experience.
I am light and probably don't set my seat to handlebars well. which leaves to find this seat rather comfortable as I don't have the stiffness people complain about, which could be cause i have to much wait on my arms and not enough on my butt.
the slit grabs my everyday cloths, the leather is slippery so jeans or slacks sway a little and then the imperial cut holds on to the seams in a slightly uncomfortable fashion
