Comments about Camelbak Charge LR Pack 2012:
Haven't used Camelbak brand packs in many years, due to leaky bite valves, sweaty back, and pack sloshing/bouncing. I replaced it with a Deuter pack, which solved all that, but looked a bit ugly. I got an Osprey Raptor when I saw how high quality is, but I found it a bit heavy, and started riding without it whenever I could, and would take it off to do jumps and such.
I have to say, with this new "LR" line-up, Camelbak has definitely impressed me. They definitely have some things that some of the closest competition doesn't have (yet), and seemed to be the best choice for what I was looking for (lightweight, stable, comfortable, decent looks, minimalistic). My only complaints are that it's kind of hard to draw water from the lumbar reservoir (esp as it empties, you need to suck on the valve, rather than just bite), and it can be a bit wet and messy trying to fill it for the first few times. I should also note that it's kind of tall, compared to other packs, and may fit awkwardly for those under 5'5".
Wish I had features from other packs in this one, but I don't miss the extra weight. Other than the weight, the zipped hip-wing pockets is prob my fav feature of this. I'm no weight weenie, but the weight really does make a difference when you're on longer rides and saddle sore sets in, or when you're riding technical terrain and have to use some body english.
