I've used nothing but Cane Creek headsets on all my bikes for at least the past 10 years. With the 40, the sealed bearings get another layer of protection from an additional rubber seal connected (fused?) to the bottom race. Amazing. I have never had a problem with any Cane Creek headset, so I'm looking forward to the next 10 years with this model.

This headset does everything right and get the highest marks due to it's flawless function at a great price. I'm okay leaving the bling and gram saving headsets that cost 4 times as much to others. Use the dough for something better and pick this solid performer up!

Was a litte hard to justify the cost up-front, but all concerns were forgotten upon receipt of the product. You get what you pay for - and this is one darn nice headset. Straight-forward installation with the right tools. Line-up marks are a nice touch to make sure the logo's are centered on the frame. After a three week vaca of hammering through WY, UT, CO, and OR - it hasn't budged. It's as smooth & tight as the day it was installed. When I sell this bike, the head-set stays with me!

I bought this headset for my new Salsa Fargo build. Now I have installed plenty of headsets in my time but this one was a royal pain. The enclosed paperwork/instruction sheet failed to show or even mention the collar-spacers that go on each side of the bearing set top and bottom. I realized something was wrong when I tried to tighten the headset and the fork continued to clunk. I spent the better part of an hour getting the parts in the correct order. Once installed correctly the headset is as solid as you could ask for. If you buy this model and plan to install it yourself please pay close attention to the order of parts as you install as the collars are critical to correct operation/installation.

This is the perfect headset. I've got a 110 Zero Stack on my MTB and this 40 EC34 on my road bike and I cannot see any reason I shouldn't have bought a 40 for the MTB too. If you hate loose ball bearing setups, this is the perfect cartridge bearing headset.
