A nice budget minded headset, not the smoothest or lightest but nice overall.

I used this headset on a new salsa bike I built. The headset was great, especially for the price. I would definitely recommend it based on my current experience (approx 1 month).

Comments about Cane Creek ZS-3 Headset:
Bought the Cane Creek ZS-3 to upgrade the stock FSA one on my Leader track bike. The head tube races fit well on my frame, though were a little tight when pressing them in (but better tight than loose). The bearings are smooth and precise. Love the rubber gasket on the seal! Am very pleased with the quality of the product, which is a lot higher than that of the FSA one, which felt kind of plasticky. Overall, made the ride smoother and more enjoyable.

Comments about Cane Creek ZS-3 Headset:
The headset wore out on my seven year old daily commuter, a Haro free-ride bike with an internal style headset. I didn't have much money, so I started shopping for something decent that I could afford. This headset installed easily, appears of nice quality, and restored smooth action back to my steering. Worth while purchase!
Comments about Cane Creek ZS-3 Headset:
This headset has races that sit down inside the headtube. It is compatible w frames that require a "semi-integrated" headset. It is the first time I have built a bike that uses this style headset, and at first I was sceptical, but it appears to be a good design- the sealed bearings are large and solid and the bearing races/ cups fit perfectly. Everthing fit together nicely; tight tolerances.
I installed this headset on a Rocky Mountain mtb frame with a rigid fork and fast tires for use as a commuter and gravel road bike.
The fit and finish are excellent. The sealed bearings appear to be high-quality. I think this will be a durable headset. It was a great value.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a 1 1/8 i.d., 45 mm o.d. "semi-integrated" headset.
Comments about Cane Creek ZS-3 Headset:
When I got a new fork for my '08 GT Avalanche, I bought this to replace the cheesy stock headset. What a difference! Installation was easy, even without the proper tools. Steering with this headset is super smooth, and the components fit together nicely without any play between the fork and frame. It's nice not having to worry about grinding parts, water flushing grease out of the bearings, etc.Do know that unlike the standard GT equipment, the cups that come with this headset are a bit thin and fragile. I installed them without damage using a wood plank and light taps with a hammer, but I was not able to get the cups out of the frame without denting the edges a bit. Again, I lack the proper tools for this sort of thing.
