"ST" stands for "short-travel" - 1.3" of travel is ideal for cross-country racers, road, or comfort riding where you just need to take the edge off bumps without the complexity of a true suspension solution. A patented 4-pivot force aligned parallel linkage keeps the pedal to saddle distance nearly constant through its travel.

An aluminum mast and links, rebuildable stainless pivots, and bronze-impregnated PTFE coated steel bushings keep the weight down to 460 grams - barely more than a traditional rigid post.

Weight: 454-474 grams, depending on size
Feature:

1.3" of travel

After much deliberation, I bought this post. Having never owned a suspension seat post before, I was dubious about how much it might help. And, the price tag was more than a bit intimidating. So far, I am ecstatic. I do a lot of riding on gravel and uneven pavement, and I'm used to hopping out of the saddle for minor bumps. Small holes, concrete seams, manhole covers, pavement to sidewalk transitions - this post absorbs them all. With this post, I can stay in the saddle almost entirely. It completely easts up the little bumps that you take for granted. Being on the heavy side, I did have to swap out the elastomer, but the process was easy. It was nice that they ship the unit with multiple inserts, allowing you to match your riding weight - or to pre-load the seat for harder riding.

Comments about Cane Creek ST Thudbuster Seatpost:

I"m a 47 year old male. Several hours of riding dirt/gravel roads on my 'cross bike always left me with back soreness for several days and screwed up my road training, but I love to ride dirt roads. I've tried lots of fixes and nothing worked. I thought it was a long shot, but bought a Thudbuster ST as a last resort. I did two days of hard gravel riding in a row with zero back pain. The dang thing was like a magic wand for me - can't explain it any other way.

Comments about Cane Creek ST Thudbuster Seatpost:

Like another reviewer I had a prostate treatment so my saddle, seat post and how the ride affects my nether region is key. As a dirt and gravel rider I have used suspension seat posts in the past and have a Cobblegobble on my road bike but when I bought a new carbon D&G bike I decided to add the Thudbuster and see how it worked. All I can say is that it is the best $150 I ever spent for a bike accessary. No doubt that this makes my riding much more enjoyable and that translates to better and faster riding. It does add weight but the tradeoff is worth it. Only other thing I didn't like was how the saddle mounts (how the rails get tightened)but I got over it.

Comments about Cane Creek ST Thudbuster Seatpost:

After a successful medical prostate treatment, looking for protection and more comfort. Started to do some homework, started to view different options, saddles, saddles and more saddles, different ideals and thoughts. Then I just stumbled on the cane creek thudbuster st, so that said, went with both, the thudbuster and new saddle. After 200km, no brainier, success, more than I imagined, for me it' a "have to have", period, full stop.

Comments about Cane Creek ST Thudbuster Seatpost:

Using this post on my Lynskey Ti hard tail 29er and it does a great job soaking up small bumps and trail chatter that was really starting to annoy me :) I was gearing up to buy a FS bike, but thought I would give this a try... compared to the cost of a new bike, I figured I had very little to lose. Well, it does everything I need! I have more freedom now to do more seated riding and climbing, and when on the really rough stuff where I might get whacked by the saddle, the Thudbuster softens the blow. Yes, it's heavy, but worth it for normal rides. In a race, I would go without it to shave weight. If the rider has the right expectations (i.e., that this post soaks up the small stuff, is not damped, and does nothing for big hits) and needs, this post is sure to be a winner. My only gripe is that it makes some rattling noise when I'm unseated riding through rough terrain. The rattling comes from the pivots which do have a little bit of play.

I bought a new hardtail and seeing that I've used this before, I knew I'd get anoter one. It really takes the bite out of the bumps, letting you stay in your seat more of the time on a bumpy trail.

Really nice addition to my rigid, backcountry touring ride. It's super easy to set up and once it's on, you just kind of forget about it until you hit some rough trail, and then you're loving it! The only reason I gave it four stars is it is a little heavy and slightly expensive in my opinion, but very minor and nit picky things and I would reccomend it to anybody needing a little extra cushion.

This is a great seat post. It is very sturdy with great shock absorbing rubber ! If you have a hard tail and have to dodge pot holes, curbs or if you ride trail and find the bumps get to you this is a great solution.

            Takes the Edge Off

            By Smada77

            from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Cane Creek ST Thudbuster Seatpost:

This is a great addition to my rigid 29er steel bike. Takes just enough of an edge off where I can stay in the saddle more without adding a lot of weight or altering the handling of the bike.

I don't think I can go back to a regular seatpost after having this one!

I weigh 150 lbs and use the stock elastomer. It comes with one firmer and one softer. I haven't tried those yet.
