Cane Creek Double Barrel CS Air Shock

Cane Creek Double Barrel CS Air Shock

Cane Creek first broke new ground with the Double Barrel Coil Shock which was a huge success, inspiring confidence with the next level adjustability and control. Next, Cane Creek devised the DBAir rear shock to accommodate those frames that cannot accept coil shocks and require air rear shocks. Now, Cane Creek’s next evolutionary step in rear suspension is here: the Double Barrel Air CS. By adding a Climbing Switch (CS) to the legendary DBAir rear shock, Cane Creek was able to breathe new life into an already well revered rear shock.

The Climb Switch is a climbing feature made to enhance both pedaling-efficiency and rear-end traction by simultaneously adjusting both low-speed compression and low-speed rebound, resulting in one of the most innovative climbing features available. Where other rear shocks with climbing features only adjust the compression, the Cane Creek DBAir CS rear shock also adjusts the rebound damping which results in better traction while minimizing pedal-bob. The Climb Switch being a literal switch makes it easy to flip on or off; making that long treacherous climb more manageable with the flick of a switch!

  • Climb Switch: Alters the entire low frequency dynamic response of the shock to specifically address the demands of ascending on a bicycle.
  • Twin-Tube Technology: Circulates oil continuously through the valving to achieve highly controllable, independent damping for both compression and rebound strokes.
  • 4-Way Independent Adjustment: Low and high speed compression and low and high speed rebound.
  • Built by Hand in Fletcher, NC: Every Double Barrel shock is hand-built in the Cane Creek factory and dyno checked to ensure the highest level of performance and quality control.

Cane Creek DBair CS
I replaced a stock rear shock on my fairly new mountain bike with this. Although my prior shock was really good, the DBair CS feels like an absolute upgrade. After a few rides I felt the bike being more responsive on the trails, and that it could handle the rock gardens and bigger obstacles more confidently. Being able to adjust the low/high speed compression and rebound is a great feature.

Improved over Stock Shock
Bought this to replace the Fox shock that came stock on my Yeti SB66. I never felt that the Fox shock worked well. The DB CS has been a huge improvement.
I've had to run much less air pressure than the recommended starting point to get the 25030% sag. I'm also using the lowest setting of HSC to acheive full travel.

Beautiful Shock
I didn't think the difference from my old rear shock to these new bad boys would be so great. I haven't bottomed out yet and once you dial in the setting it will feel like you have a new bike.

Best pointing down shock but at an expense of tuning.
I have ridden fox, cane creek, and rockshox suspension. I would say that the cane creek is the best for aimed down rides and fox is the most playful and best for recovery of consecutive hits. That leaves rockshox. I will say it is probably the most efficent which i would say is due to their rapid recovery setup but this also leaves more to be desired when it comes to suppleness and rough sections that seem to make the bike turn slightly bouncy.

Cane creek as it is designed crushes the competition when it comes to a descending shock (apparently the new fox x2 is in the same ball park but thats about it)

The shock does take some time and effort in tuning and seems to keep you guessing if you have finally found the perfect tune right before you make one more adjustment. That being said its suppleness and smoothness thru rough areas is phenomenal. Only negative i can say is that the climb switch is definitely needed when going up due to its suppleness taking alot of efficiency out of climbing. That may not be a negative for some as in the mountains with fire road climbs it is no problem but for me locally every descent is short followed by a short punchy climb. You earn your fun from where i call home.

Nope.
The delivery was quick.

The attempt to return the shock and communicate with Jenson has been bad and I thought there was a 30 day no questions return policy but I could have been mistaken, either way I will not use Jenson again.

Why does this shock have specific bike models listed along with the size options? Will the 7.87x2.25 fit models other than intense carbine 29 and kona process? I have an intense tracer 275c. Will this shock fit?
A shopper on Jun 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: My theory is the bike specific shocks include the bushings and spacers for that model. I purchased a shock for a Bronson and it came with the bushings after I had already purchased Cane Creek bushings. Damping is all based on dials so there is no difference as I understand it.
Will this fit a 2015 giant reign 1?
