The Castelli Free Aero Race Bibshort takes all the features that are responsible for making the previous Free Bibshort the most renown and bestselling Castelli short it has become over the years, and re-engineers them to make the latest model both more comfortable and more aerodynamic truly delivering and unfair advantage.

The Free Aero Race's renovations include improving leg support and blood-flow through the progressive Giro Air leg band that affords more stretch and distributes the compression over a larger area to free the legs up of any restriction that can occur with many cycling shorts. As its name suggests, the Free Aero Race optimizes boundary-layer airflow to improve its aerodynamic capacities. When tested in the wind tunnel, Castelli found that the addition of the Giro Air leg band and the dimples on the side fabric saves 10 watts at 50 kilometers per hour.

Of course, what would an aerodynamically engineered bib short be if it wasn't comfortable to wear for hours on end? Going hard and digging deep during the crucial moments of competition presents plenty of pain and discomfort as it is, therefore the bibs you choose should aid you in staying comfortable instead of working against you. For this, the new fabrics are all softer than the fabrics of old, especially the new softer surface fabric on the updated Progetto X2 Air chamois. The innovative double V construction on the front keeps everything in place without compressing your stomach, while the ingenious Carré yoke keeps the straps laying perfectly flat to prevent irritation.
