Colnago, one of the most prestigious names in cycling has been producing high quality bicycles since 1952, from a small workshop in Cambiago, Italy. Ernesto Colnago's top-level craftsmanship was known to be unique and beautiful. It also provided high performance that was highly sought after, even by the likes of Eddie Merckx, who went off to win a stage at the Milano-San Remo stage race, and also set the hour record in 1972 on a Colnago. To this day we still see world tour pro teams seeking the high performance, aesthetically detailed bikes and history that accompany a brand like Colnago. They are one of the last brands that stay true to their Italian roots, using materials handcrafted in Italy.
The ACR-1 is the "entry level" frame in the Colnago carbon range, but rest assured it will deliver the high quality and performance of its pricier siblings. Built from high quality monocoque carbon, it was designed to be in full compliance with the philosophy of the Colnago brand. The geometry on the ACR-1 was designed with high comfort and performance in mind to provide an unmatchable ride quality for a bike in its price range. The ACR -1 frame comes ready for an electronic group-set, in case you ever decide to make the upgrade.
The ACR-1 head tube has a conical shape, with a wider bottom with a diameter of 1 ¼" and a narrower top at 1 1/8". This gives greater strength and rigidity to the front end of the frame. The full carbon fork on the ACR-1 also deserves an honorary mention as it is one of the key parts of the frameset in which Colnago invested so much research and time into. The over-sized head provides improved control and increased stability that will come in handy in every situation you'll find yourself in while riding ya bike. It is also lighter, and better at absorbing road vibrations from the road, making it one of the key parts of the frame.
The rear triangle of the ACR-1 is basically composed of two forks, with one being connected to the bottom bracket and the other being connected to the seat tube. This provides maximum traction at the rear wheel, optimizing the feel and making it more rigid which is great for accelerations. The tire clearance fits up to 25mm tires.
