Continental Mountain King II 26" Tire

Continental Mountain King II ProTection 26"

The Mountain King II is now in its second reign, strengthening its rule over the trail bike scene. The shoulder lugs have been beefed up, creating more space between the center and side lugs to shed mud for better grip, especially when flying into a turn. The Mountain King II provides plenty of traction for various terrains from muddy to loose over hard packed and can be run on the front, rear, or both. This version of the Mountain King II features Continental’s ProTection-RTR casing which increases sidewall protection while also providing a UST compatible Revolution Tubeless Ready bead. The Mountain King II has once again claimed its throne upon modern trail bikes!

In 2007, Black Chili compound hit the market. It has been a hit with cyclists ever since, as it has proven to improve tire performance in all areas. The BlackChili compound lasts longer, grips better, and rolls faster. It has 26% less rolling resistance, 30% higher grip, and even 5% longer mileage. The Black Chili Compound is only made in Korbach Germany, and the recipe is not shared with any other tire manufacturer.

The Revolution Tubeless Ready system provides the perfect combination of smooth running, grip, and puncture protection. ProTection RTR features 4 ply heavy duty nylon (4 under tread, 3 in the sidewall.) The Revolution Tubeless Ready (RTR) system offers a UST style bead, and mid-weight casing for full tubeless compatibility. For optimal results, Continental recommends using the Continental RevoSealant with these tires.

Note: If Stan's was previously used, both the tire and rim must be scrubbed using Simple Green or a similar cleaner, before Continental Revo Sealant can be used.

Great MTB Tire
Use 2.4 in front, 2.2 in back. Love the no flats tubeless design. Can run through about anything without flat - particularly goatheads.

Excellent tires for South East
I really like these tires. In Atlanta, the Mountain King have been a good general use tire for me. Stopping on hard surfaces as well as the local muck has been good so far. Making them run tubeless was completely effortless. Overall I am very happy with these tires.

Great Tire
Love these tires. They work. Tubeless is best. Watch out for how fast they get going, if you're on a fire road and point it downhill...like race skis- they just take off. XC trails is their home. Take you over most anything, with style.

Great Tire
Got this tire to put on the front of my Trek Fuel EX7 when I went tubeless. Definitely required a compressor to seat the bead before adding Stan's.

Proved to be a great asset in my environment and took the corners very well. Looking forward to a lot of life from this tire.

Awesome tire!
These tires are the best. Great traction on dry dirt, wet roots, rocky terrain, and damp conditions. Have not tried muddy/ mucky conditions yet. They also are tough. Don't think I'll be worrying about Rick cuts or pinch flats this year. All this without being too heavy. Note you have to give them 3-4 good rides to really kick in. Each ride they get a little stickier. After 5 rides, I find them gripping the heck out of everything. Very happy with them.

MK II Protection
I only have about 100 miles on this tire. I have the 2.2 I am using it as a front tire (tubeless with stans) and so far it has been great. The only downside I have seen so far is that installing this tire on the rim was a probably the most difficult tire I have ever installed on a rim, it almost seemed too small. After I got it on the rim I was able to seat the bead with a floor pump no issues. The tire gives confidence in the corners and seems to be durable. Also Great looking tire.
