I bought these tires (in a 37c width) to replace the "el cheapo" stock tires that came on my Surly Cross Check. I use my Cross Check for everything from fetching groceries to running errands to riding across town to visit friends/family, and I'm entertaining the idea of a multi-day tour this winter. These tires really couldn't be much better suited to my needs. They are extremely puncture-resistant and don't seem to even flinch at shards of broken glass, sharp pieces of metal, or gravel/rocks. The reflective sidewalls are also a huge plus for twilight or nighttime riding. The only downside to these tires is that they do seem to roll surprisingly slowly for narrow, nearly-slick, 700c rubber. Not sure if it's because of the heavy-duty casing or the tread design or what. Granted, they're not built for speed, but it really is puzzling that they aren't quicker. Another quirk that these tires have is that they run very, very narrow. As I said, I have the 37c size, and they are visibly narrower than the 32c Kenda Kwests on one of my other bikes. In fact, I'm running them with Planet Bike's Cascadia fenders, which supposedly only accommodate tires up to 35c, and I have plenty of clearance. Overall, if you're looking for a durable, reliable, safety-oriented city/commuting/touring tire, I don't think you can do much better than Conti's Touring Plus model- just keep in mind that you won't win any races with them and that they do run a bit narrow! Happy trails to you.

I haven't had the tire for a long time so can't speak to durability, but did want to speak to some other comments. The tire was definitely thinner than expected. I ordered a 32mm expecting it to be suitable for light gravel riding but faster on roads, and it barely looks as wide as a 28mm. Definitely size up. They were a little difficult to put on some touring rims--but they are wire bead tires, so it wasn't any more difficult than when I've installed wire bead tires on my mountain bike.

It is a great tire for road riding/commuting: enough tread to handle variable surface but rolls fast. Much faster than the Surly Knards I had on prior.

Comments about Continental Touring Plus Tire:

Tires are great, a nice upgrade from the slicks I had on previous. These were a bit difficult to get on the rim and have a very snug fit. I'm not sure if the tire is a tad small or my tubes bulky. The fit is so tight I'm concerned I won't be able to get these tires off. Oh well, they are great for now!

Nice all around tire but felt very heavy for 700 X 28. A good tire if you are not putting on lots of miles. A little hard to mount without tools. I replaced with Ruffy Tuffy tires and wow what a difference.

Comments about Continental Touring Plus Tire:

I challenged myself to go car-less for one year last may. I have gone through a set of these and am now on my second set. They are possibly the best touring/everyday tire available. I am about half-way through the tread on the second set and will buy another after that. I am more than happy with Jensen's shipping and customer service. Keep up the good work folks! I look foreward to my next purchase!

Comments about Continental Touring Plus Tire:

I'm a clyde (250), and I've gotten about 1500 miles out of the set. While this may not seem like much, I'll gladly trade low mileage for ZERO problems, punctures or flats. This combined with excellent ride quality and handling characteristics makes me a loyal fan.
