Continental Trail King Sport 27.5" Tire

Continental's Trail King Sport 27.5" Tire is a wire bead tire with a 2.4" width designed for enduro bikes and all-mountain bikes that have suspension travel of 140mm or greater. This is because of its comfortable and voluminous casing, with a multitude of small knobs offering traction on the most difficult of trails. And with a durable casing and long-lasting tread, this tire is ideal for sporty amateur riders who don't want to be swapping tires each ride.

Continental Trail King Sport 27.5" Tire Specifications:

  • Size: 27.5x2.4"
  • Wire bead and mesh sidewall design
  • TPI: 84
  • Recommended pressure: 45-58psi

a little heavy but they grip
a little heavy and rolling resistance is a little up on the x king but i like to use this on the front end. if you keep tucking the front end give this a go.

GRIP
Went from 2.2 Nobby Nicks which were good, but the wider tires are way more grippy!

A tad heavy, but good grip for climbing. It also seats very well on the rim, where other tires I've used needed more work to get the bead uniform on both sides.

Heavy but beefy
Frustrations with sidewall punctures lead me to this tire and the price it was offered at on Black Friday sealed the deal. It's huge compared to my old 2.2
The sidewalls have much more material than other tires. Sacrificed some weight and added a tube for the added protection. Tire looks and rides great. So far so good on this entry to mid level tire

Durable, good grip
Tire has been extremely durable which to me is the most important factor. I'm also running these tubeless. Good grip all around. I ride mainly in the Denver front range area and high mountains so mostly dry/rocky terrain.

Only thing is they do run slightly narrower than 2.4 as indicated. Still much larger and meatier than the 2.1's the bike came with.

for the money this is definitely a great tire.

Are these tires tubeless ready?
A shopper on Mar 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I mounted a set on standard rims that I converted to tubeless via gorilla tape and stans. Tires set the bead using an air compressor very easy. Haven't had any problems thus far with 50 miles or so on them.
I have full suspension. Travel on front and back is 130 mm. would this tire not work on my bike?
david h on Apr 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The amount of travel on a frame or fork does not determine your tire clearance. Contact your bike and/or fork manufacturer for for specifics on recommended tire sizes.
