Pronounced cross king, the X-king is between a race tire and an all mountain tire. This fast rolling tire has an aggressive tread which is perfect for gripping both hard and loose terrain. The shoulder lugs hook-up like super glue during high- speed cornering. The symmetrical center section provides excellent climbing and braking traction.

This version of the X-King has Continental’s signature Black Chili Compound. In 2007, Black Chili compound hit the market. It has been a hit with cyclists ever since. Black Chili improves tire performance in all areas. It lasts longer, grips better, and rolls faster. It has 26% less rolling resistance, 30% higher grip, and even 5% longer mileage. The Black Chili Compound is only made in Korbach Germany, and the recipe is not shared with any other tire manufacturer.

  • RaceSport: 3 plies/ total 180 TPI/ Black Chili Compound
  • Wheel Size: 26”
  • Intended Use: Mountain

Comments about Continental X-King Race 26" Tire:

The hard packed SoCal trails turn soft and loose in the late summer so I was looking for a front tire with more side bite for cornering than my Conti Race King Supersonic 2.2. The X-king is well matched to my rear RK SS and my cornering confidence was once again regained. These tires do well in the loose stuff but feel strange on hardpack as the side knobs have alot of flex when pushed hard. Even with the flex they still had great traction, the feel just takes some getting used to. Being pleased with the performance on the front, I tried it on the rear but the results were not so good. Good front tire but not so much on the rear. I have found my new loose conditions front tire.
