Great Tire
As a tire connosieur, I am impressed with the ride of these tires. Riding them in the 25c size on a 23mm rim is awesome. They're very lightweight tires and these instantly took a solid half pound off my bike (I was on Challenge Strada Open tubulars before). These aren't as lively or comfortable as the proper open tubular, though. I think it has to do with the casing design. However, these are very fast, very responsive tires.

I don't feel as confident for whatever reason with these through corners as the open tubulars. I think it might have to do with the casing. They certainly corner well and have great grip however. For whatever reason they just don't feel like they "carve" as well. Could be all in my head. I'm a 170lb guy running 90psi rear, 85psi front, and I've been experimenting with different pressures and found these to be the most pleasing. YMMV.

My buddy cut these really bad on a shard of glass on a recent ride... so avoid glass with these tires. The rubber compound and casing work together in such a way to be a little less resistant to slicing but seem to be pretty puncture resistant otherwise. Still recommended if you're looking for a really great all-around tire!

They're Continental. Come on!
I have a few hundred miles on these 28mm tires and they are quite the difference over the 25mm Giant tires that came stock. A little more cushion thanks to going a size up, great grip, no squirm and they look good.

Excellence in the shape of a circle
I've been riding the 25c's for just over six months, and these things still have plenty of life left in them, not to mention they still bite great in the corners. As far as speed, I have raced these and concluded that these are very capable tires for just that. However, there are faster, lighter tires out there that lack the longevity of these. My one complaint with these is that they are on the pricey side. However, their life expectancy paired with their grip and lower weight justifies the price tag.

Great all-around tire
400s IIs are an improvement over the already very good previous model. No flats yet after 700 miles. Used to ride Gator Skin, which gave me great wear--close to 5000 miles, but the 4000 S II roll smoother and I like the grip in the corners. With the very competitive price at Jensen, I would definitely recommend this tire.

Never going back to 23mm
500 miles in so far, the 25mm has proven to be a lot more comfortable, corners better, and not a lot of loss at speed.

But enough about 23mm vs 25mm, Conti has really outdone themselves on the SII, the tire feels fast, and the data shows its faster, the only thing time will tell is the durability on the tread wear.

Ive been running these tires for the past 3 race seasons and they have been solid. Super light and roll pretty smooth. And they easy to get on/off.

Looking at these and a set of Conti GP 4000 S2 tires. Tires come in 23/25/28. I'm a group rider 25-40 mile rides, 5'10" 205lbs, mostly decent road and asphalt trails. Question is which width tires?

BEST ANSWER: Get the widest you can fit on your bike. Be aware that the actual width AND height of the GP 4000 , and pretty much any tire, will vary from the nominal size. For instance, my 28 mm GP 4000s are about 30.3 mm wide. My 25 mm ones are 26.6. You can probably look up the actual width and height on the web.
