Continental Race King Protection 29 Tire

The Continental Race King is a proven champion time and time again, helping Irina Kalentieva to two World Championships. The low- profile pattern rolls faster than competing tires, and handles a wide range of conditions. When it's dry, the Race King is as fast and provides as much traction as can be asked, and rolling resistance rivals that of many road tires.

This version of the Race King features Continental's Black Chili Compound. In 2007, Black Chili compound hit the market. It has been a hit with cyclists ever since, as it has proven to improve tire performance in all areas. The BlackChili compound lasts longer, grips better, and rolls faster. It has 26% less rolling resistance, 30% higher grip, and even 5% longer mileage. The Black Chili Compound is only made in Korbach Germany, and the recipe is not shared with any other tire manufacturer.

The Revolution Tubeless Ready system provides the perfect combination of smooth running, grip, and puncture protection. ProTection RTR features 4 ply heavy duty nylon (4 under tread, 3 in the sidewall.) The Revolution Tubeless Ready (RTR) system offers a UST style bead, and mid-weight casing for full tubeless compatibility. For optimal results, Continental recommends using the Continental RevoSealant with these tires.

Note: If Stan's was previously used, both the tire and rim must be scrubbed using Simple Green or a similar cleaner, before Continental Revo Sealant can be used.

Comments about Continental Race King Protection 29 Tire:

I ride these on roots , rocks , sand , clay, loose over hard , hardpack , gravel , tarmac , etc..exceptional on so many levels. go ahead and buy the "protection series" you get what you pay for. German made top notch tires. Jenson used to carry the "performance series" with the "pure frip compound" also a great tire.

Comments about Continental Race King Protection 29 Tire:

I spend half of my time on the road and half off. So, finding a tire that can suit both needs put my mind at ease. Previously, caution and fear reigned in cornering at speed. The Continental Race King solved that issue.

Excellent tire for on and off road

Comments about Continental Race King Protection 29 Tire:

I wore out the rear Race King 2.2 that came with my Salsa Fargo, and I replaced it with this version just before the Dakota 5-0 this year (2012). The tire performed very well in the 5-0 except for some really loose areas, which thankfully there isn't much of here in the Black Hills.

My riding is a mix of year-round, on and off road, and I really haven't found anything yet that the tire doesn't do well or at least handle adequately. It hums a bit on the road, but not nearly as bad as other knobby tires.

I run them tubeless at around 28 PSI. Mounting the tire wasn't too difficult, especially when I finally decided to follow directions!
