The Crank Brothers Mallet DH pedal is loved by many riders and mechanics throughout the downhill/ all mountain community. The original Mallet was a hit with many riders, but Crank Brothers knew they could do better. In 2011, the Mallet was revamped and made thinner and lighter. However, many riders missed the wider platform. Steve Peat (Santa Cruz Syndicate) worked with Crank Brothers on the new Mallet DH/ Race. Therefore, Crank Brothers went back to the drawing board to create a light weight, wide pedal. The Crank Brothers Mallet DH is the perfect combination of function, feel, and performance.

In the event you need to service these pedals the plastic end plugs covering the bolt/nut holding the pedals together seem to be made of a substance similar in consistency to old chewing gum. The plugs will inevitably disintegrate under the turn of a flathead screwdriver and as a result the bolt/nut will be completely blocked. You will likely resort to spending hours picking the plug apart inside the pedal- a total pain and a complete waste of time. The wide platform on these pedals is nice but not worth the service hassle. Purchase something else.

This is a fantastic all round lightweight DH pedal for people who want clipless aswell as a very grippy flat pedal design. It sheds mud like no other and is the lightest clipless dh pedal i have used.
Used this in a race recently at Thredbo and i was extremely impressed. these are the only pedals i will choose for future DH bikes
