Crankbrothers Highline Dropper Post

Crankbrothers Highline Seatpost

Tested and proven in extreme conditions all over the globe by world-class riders.

Using some interesting new tech and what might possibly be the most universal and well thought-out lever design on the market, Crankbrothers introduces the Highline dropper seatpost. Cedric Gracia is just one rider to have put this post through it’s paces and give it a big thumbs up. It went through rigorous real world testing because they weren’t about to deliver a sub-par product. Premium seals, a rotary valve, some exclusive Igus bearings, along with a Jagwire cable, and a self-contained hydraulic cartridge means this post delivers industry leading qualities and reliability.

The Highline remote features a unique spherical adjustment, which allows for 360 degrees of rotation and 22 degrees of tilt. Customizers and perfectionist will find that the perfect cockpit set-up is finally attainable.

Solid Dropper at a Fair Price
The Highline is my 5th dropper post, so I have a little experience with the different droppers out there. I find the Highline to be a good solid dropper that is fairly easy to install. The clamping system for the saddle and seat post actuator are A+.

Actuator: You can achieve almost any mounting configuration you want with the actuator. Left, right, above or below. Short reach or long reach. Very nice set-up.

Saddle Mount: Another great design on the saddle mount. Easy to install or replace saddle and you don't need 3 hands to do it. No rail slip and no creaks, so far.

One Con: My only complaint about the Highline is that the rise of the post is not as responsive as posts I have used in the past (Thomson, KS Lev). But, if this is your first dropper, you won't even notice.

Overall, this is my daily driver dropper post. My Thomson sits as a backup due to its forever creaky saddle mount. I have had two KS Lev droppers crack near the saddle mount, so time will test the Highline. I have had it installed for about 3 months and zero issues. I do recommend this item to new and seasoned riders.

Flawless after 2 months
I have been riding post 3-5 times a week for 2 months straight now. I raced the Keystone Big Mountain Enduro and the Aspen Enduro World Series and it worked great. It is slower to return than other posts which has been a welcome change to violent top outs on some other posts. The nicest feature in my opinion is how solid it locks in each position. There is zero up and down play at the saddle. I am very happy with this post. I am cautiously optimistic about how great this post seams.

Great Dropper With Unmatched Warranty!!
This is a first ride impression of this post so far. I only have experience with a ks lev dx and a Specialized Command Post IRCC. The highline is the stiffest post by far. This really helps for climbing when you need to dig into your saddle.

In terms of functionality, it is the smoothest post I have used; even compared to a reverb that I fiddled with on another bike. The lever feels great and has the most position adjustability of any lever on the market. If you run a 2x drivetrain, note that the lever needs to be positioned above the bar and will grind into the ground when you need to flip your bike over. So use your glove and cushion the lever and the ground with it when you need to flip over the bike.

Going down the technical El Prieto trail in Los Angeles, it worked amazingly. The infinite adjust comes in really handy on undulating trails. The only 2 downsides to it is that 1)it extends upward slowly even with the lever adjusted for the fastest rising speed of the post and 2)there is no sound when the post is fully extended. I heard a loud thud with the Command post. All in all, it is a vast upgrade from the specialized IRCC. It feels more substantial and is much stiffer.

The real beauty of this post is that it has a fully replaceable internal cartridge. So when there's a warranty defect, they will send out a new cartridge and it can be replaced in minutes. So you can ride in peace with its industry leading 3 year warranty.

Do not hesitate and get this post! I will update this review after I've ridden it for a few more months.

length confusing, easy install
I just installed my seatpost, so no review yet of actually riding on it. However, just wanted to post a note about the length. I got the 100mm version, and the listed length is 345mm. This length does not include the connector assembly at the bottom of the post. The total length is between 400 and 405mm. In the picture below, you can see where 345mm hits, and then the rest is not included in the listed length. It's important to know this if you're trying to fit it in a small frame (which I was, and got lucky--it just fits!)

Overall, super easy install once I figured out how I wanted to route the cables. Works well but will get a better feel after a long ride tomorrow.

Also, really like the lever and how easy it is to adjust the position--seems like a great design

2012 Trek Remedy 8
I waited months to get this dropper post (due to saving up for it) and when I finally did I was not disappointed. The instructions were the best instructions of any product I have ever purchased. I am a visual learner so they were right up my alley, if you do not do well with no words in the instructions then you may have a little trouble as they are 100% picture lead. The installation was very easy with all of the pieces that came with the product, the routing on my bike was a breeze as well. Once it was installed it worked like a charm. I had to do a little bit of adjusting in the cockpit to fit my stance but thats normal. The control lever is simply just amazing! I read this in all of the reviews and they did not lie. it is very smooth and taught, the seat has an audible "klunk" when it hits the top of the stroke and the bottom which is really nice. I have not tested it on the trails yet as I literally just finished installing it and rode up and down the street. All in all, a purchase that I will not regret and I recommend this product to anyone who is not afraid to spend a little extra for quality and reliability.

This crankbrothers dropper is the most aesthetically pleasing post out there. Installation is straight forward and the directions are easy to follow. That being said, the post is very reliant on exact cable tension. The trigger doesn't have any kind of spring to help it return. It took a couple rides to get it to work flawlessly without any sag.

Great dropper w/ awesome adjustable lever.
Great post. Easy install. Best lever hands down. Can easily fit any setup. I have it installed on a 1x drive train so I have it where my front shifter would be. Reliable and smooth return. No problems after about 5 months of riding.
It doesn't rise as fast as my KS Supernatural but it hasn't been an issue. The audible *thunk* when it returns is still there, contrary to some of he reviewers, just not as loud as other posts.

Great Post So Far
This post has been awesome so far. The lever is really easy to use and the post is very easy to install. Everything worked right out of the box and is continuing to work. My only problem is the post has developed play at the saddle (like most other droppers) from normal use. The play doesn't effect my riding but it is just an annoying "feature." The return may be a little slow for some too as it takes a little extra time to get up and doesn't really have the "clunk" once extended. If you can deal with the tiny issues then it is an awesome post, the lever being a huge highlight to it.

Great Dropper
Easy to install and works perfect. Don't have a lot of time on it yet, but initial impression is excellent. Not as fast on return as some others, but I prefer that. Last Dropper I installed took a while to tweak and make sure it was setup perfect (lev dx). This one set right up the first time.

The 400mm lenght is taken from what point to what point of the post?

Thank you.
TC on Sep 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I just bought the 100mm version of this post, and the length measurement they give DOES NOT include the connector/cable assembly at the bottom. Keep this in mind if you are trying to fit into a small frame. I got lucky, and mine just barely fit, but I would have liked to know the actual dimensions before I ordered it.

The post length was 345mm, but the entire length was about 403mm (I posted a couple of pics in my review on this site)

BEST ANSWER: I put one of these dropper posts on my Giant Trance at the start of this season. It was easy to install and has worked flawlessly.
i have an intense tracer 275a 2016 and previously had a reverb that was 420mm long, would 465mm length be too long?
