Not every ride is a break-neck race to the finish. For many, a bike
that delivers long distance comfort and a slightly more upright riding
posture is preferable to that of a more aggressive race machine. If
you're looking to harness the
efficiency and ride characteristics of a high-end race bicycle, but are
looking for a road bike with a nod to comfort, the Diamondback Century
4 Carbon 2014 is primed to perform.
The Diamondback Century 4 Carbon features Diamondback's Advanced Tube to Tube (ATT) design with “Core Control” which utilizes a monocoque of the head tube and down tube that is joined to a monocoque of the BB and chain stay. These two structures form the “core” of the frame and work together to provide better handling through front end control and stiffness and rear end power transmission. Diamondback then applies the remaining carbon tubes utilizing carbon welding or Tube to Tube construction. This provides additional compliance to the ride. Coupling these two unique methods of frame making creates an exceptionally smooth confidence inspiring and efficient ride. The frame also features internal cable routing, carbon drop outs, a tapered headtube, and Di2 compatibility.
Rounding out the front end of the bike is a DB Carbon road fork featuring Continuous Fiber Technology (CFT). Diamondback’s Continuous Fiber Technology uses full-length carbon strands to manufacture the fork that extend from the top of the steer tube to the bottom of the drop outs. Using that same AMMP technology employed in the Podium frame, Diamondback created one of the stiffest forks available. With a lower integrated crown race that’s completely carbon, the need for a separate aluminum race is eliminated. This makes the overall system lighter, stronger and more responsive.
The Diamondback Century 4 Carbon sports a efficient Shimano drivetrain featuring a 105 dual control shifter and a 105 front and Ultegra rear 10 speed derailleur. Tektro R540 dual pivot brakes afford you the ability to stop on a dime. An FSA Gossamer Pro Compact BB386 crankset keeps things spinning smoothly while a Shimano RS-11 Clinchers provide an extremely lightweight and fast rolling wheel option. Easton EC50 Ergo drop bars and a DBR 3D forged stem round out the cockpit while a Prologo Scratch Pro seat and DBR Performance post ensure that you are riding in comfort and style.
