Exclusive Jenson USA Diamondback Carbon Road Bike

Exclusive to Jenson USA, the Diamondback Podium Race Carbon bike packs value in a performance oriented package. Jenson USA worked closely with Diamondback to design a lightweight high performance carbon fiber bicycle at an attractive price. A full AMMP (Advanced Monocoque Molding Process) frame and for constructed of carbon fiber features Optimized Resin Compound and designed with 3D modeling and Finite Element Analasys before coming up with the ideal and final product. By using the carbon fiber construction, Diamondback has kept the weight of the complete road bike to 18.3 pounds on our Jenson USA scale.

The Diamondback Podium Race shares geometry and construction technique with the top of the line Podium 7. This is no cookie cutter carbon fiber machine. Diamondback engineers use only in-house carbon fiber lay-ups and release the products after extensive testing and design. You will find true confidence inspiring handling with the carbon fiber construction and frame geometry. Diamondback keeps the front end stiff with the use of a tapered head tube. That is a feature found on many bikes that cost much more then the Podium Race.

Equipped with quality components and designed with performance in mind, the Diamondback Podium Race Carbon is a true road bike that won’t empty your wallet. The parts package includes the super crisp shifting Shimano 105 drivetrain that is an upgrade from the Shimano Tiagra or Shimano Sora that you might find at this price range. Diamondback rounds out the package with FSA cranks and DBR’s bars, stem and seatpost.

Compare the Jenson USA Diamondback Podium Race to a similarly equipped road bike like the Cannondale Super Six Tiagra you could save yourself some serious money. If you are looking for a race ready road bike that won’t break the bank, the exclusive Jenson USA Podium Race Carbon is ready to take you down the road and save you enough money for a nice set of race day wheels!

Comments about Diamondback Podium Race Carbon Bike 2012:

I bought this bike in November of 2013. This is a great bike as is. I like to upgrade components and have changed out nearly everything to carbon fiber (except for rims, went with aluminum). Without really spending a ton of money I got this bike down to 16.75 pounds. I really have no complaints about the bike. It's solid, well built, and nice to look at.The components it comes with are fine and will serve you well.Upgrades are easily justifiable and serve this platform well. Hopefully Jenson keeps selling this bike or its 2014 equivalent.

Comments about Diamondback Podium Race Carbon Bike 2012:

First I have been riding since the 80s and spent over two decades as a Trek fan. I have been on steel and aluminum frames. In 2011, I wanted to upgrade but the kids braces and travel sports left me broke. I took a chance on the DB Podium 3 (and Jenson)and was not let down. I love that bike. I added a carbon stem and handlebars and it really made a difference. SO...I have been thinking about an upgrade to carbon for the last year. I have watched this bike for a while. After a phone call to Jenson and a conversation with a very helpful employee (I wish I remembered his name), I decided to pull the plug. I just came back from a 50 mile ride and I an so glad I did.

About the bike, it rides great.....fast responsive and comfortable. It is the same frame as the Pod 5. The large head-tube has you more upright than traditional race frames but I like it on my beat up 50 yr old body. The carbon definitely dampens the ride. My back and neck are not as fatigued as they would normally be on a 50 miler. The frame is also fast and you can feel it respond when you increase your power. The crank, wheels and brakes are ok. Not a problem because most will replace the wheels. The brakes are adequate and did a good job stopping my 230lb frame (I am built like a football player, not a cyclist) on a steep grade. I wasn't sure about the 12- 30 cassette until thought I would probably take it off. I hit some hills and it might be staying. I'll need more rides to determine that.

Now the negatives...The seat is junk, toss it. The finish on the frame is just a clear coat on the carbon frame. You can see the imperfections. I can live with it. I like the matte finish. Besides, I am more concerned with performance than looks or name brands.

Finally, the price. Full carbon (with internal routing), 105s & Pressfit BB 30 are just not found on a bike at this price. This is a great bike at an even better price. When I spoke with the rep last week, I know they only had a handful of 58s left. If you are thinking of getting one, I recommend you do.
Neither DB or Jenson let me down....twice!

Comments about Diamondback Podium Race Carbon Bike 2012:

THE QUALITY OF THIS BIKE IS TOP NOTCH. DIAMONDBACK REALLY WANTS TO SOLIDIFY THEIR NAME IN THE PERFORMANCE ROAD MARKET AND IT SHOWS. IF THIS BIKE HAD A DIFFERENT NAME ON THE DOWNTUBE, IT WOULD BE TWICE AS EXPENSIVE. I LOVED MY DIAMONDBACK MOUNTAIN BIKE SO I TOOK A CHANCE ON THIS AND I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. THE 105'S SHIFT PERFECTLY WITH LITTLE EFFORT. IT IS VERY LIGHT AND FEELS SOLID AS A ROCK. I HAVE YET TO PUT IT ON THE SCALE BUT I KNOW THAT IT FEELS SUBSTANTIALLY LIGHTER THAN MY 20LB ALUMINUM ROAD BIKE. I ONLY HAVE TWO MINOR COMPLAINTS, THE REAR BRAKING TAKES A LOT OF FORCE ON THE LEVER AND THE CRANKSET WEIGHS A TON. WHEN YOU PICK THIS BIKE UP, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT ALL OF THE WEIGHT LIES AT THE BB. AS FAR AS JENSON'S SERVICE, I AM NOT THRILLED. I KNOW WHY THE "BRONZE BUILD" WAS FREE. . . I DON'T BELIEVE FOR A SECOND THAT A MECHANIC WENT OVER THIS BIKE. SECONDLY, JENSON SENT ME THE 56CM INSTEAD OF THE 54CM. I HAD THE BIKE SET UP ENTIRELY BEFORE I REALIZED THE STANDOVER HEIGHT WAS TOO TALL AND THE SIZING DECAL CONFIRMED THIS :(

Comments about Diamondback Podium Race Carbon Bike 2012:

This is my first 'serious' bike I've purchased. I use this to commute and for some weekend warrioring. I have been very pleased with my purchase. Shifts like a dream and just feels solid. Two caveats: The seat and the handlebars are not comfortable. I have adjust the handlebars every which way possible and I can not get a comfortable wrist position in the drops or the hoods. I had to choose one over the other. Not a dealbraker this may just be a problem I personally encounter. The seat is another story. Do yourself a favor and throw it away, buy yourself another seat, and do not look back. It will tear you a new one.
After adding a new seat this has been a wonderful thing to ride and I look forward to continuing my cycling proficiency with this great machine.
      It's also quite the looker.

Comments about Diamondback Podium Race Carbon Bike 2012:

This bike is a fantastic bike for the price. Spec'd as is, I enjoyed riding it a lot. The geometry feels tight, responsive and the fit was nice and comfortable. The carbon is very dampening but responds stiffly to sprinting efforts. The stock bike is very lightweight as well even with the wheels that come with it, which most people will change out anyway. The finish of the frame itself is really pretty, unidirectional matte carbon, you have to see it in person to really appreciate it.

With high end features like the tapered headtube, direct mount FD and internal cable routing, this bike is way more than just a "we'll do a road bike just for the heck of it" bike. Diamondback put a lot of thought and effort into putting together a really well-built bike and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get into racing or training seriously with a great carbon frame you can grow with.
