I've got the e-type guide...I use it with a 9 speed drivetrain (32 - 12/34) and no matter how I set it up, it will just barely rub on the 34t cog. I think that when I upgrade to 1x10, I think it will work out great.
Otherwise, it works fantastically. Installed easily, hasn't dropped the chain through a whole season of riding... definite recommendation.

I could not space the guide in enough to work with my chainline.Could have something to do with the fat seat tube on my Blur TRC.
I have always been a fan of E.13 guides and was bummed this did'nt work.
Crazy expensive for what it is.You can buy a complete LG1+ for less.

This is my second one, because the first one broke when I smoked a rock. Wish E13 just sold the top part instead of having to buy a whole new system. Great for those who think 10 speed is a joke with there thin chains. Get this a 32 single ring up front and a shimano 12-36 in the back and you can climb anything.

I got this for my transition to a 1x10 set-up on my hardtail. I've had it for a month or two now with no problems to speak of. It took two tries to get the spacers on my BB right, but that was no big deal.
I also run an XTR derailleur with the little tension switch. I think I could run it without the guide, but I like the extra security.
It's quiet and I don't think about it...just the way it should be.

Started running a 1X setup on my S-Works Stumpjumper FSR using the XCX E Type along w/ E13 guide ring and XO shifter/derailleur in January and love it. Now all I have on my bars is shifter/brake on the right and seatpost dropper/brake on the left. Initially ran the 32T ring that used to be my middle ring, which was 1 tooth smaller than the minimum in the specs. Dropped the chain less than when I had a front D, but still had problems with the chain getting all snagged up in the guide and coming off the ring. Went to a 34 tooth, which pretty much took care of the problem. The E Type direct mount fits great on the stumpy, although it took some fiddling to get it lined up just right. My bike is lighter and meaner on the descents, and I'm digging the simplicity. Wish it would accommodate a bash guard, but that's really not a big deal at all. I don't know if it will survive more than 1 season of heavy riding, which is the only reason I gave 4 stars.

I routinely ride rocky terrain with lots of roots which had caused me to loose my chain frequently with the jump stop device. No problems with the E-13.
