ENVE MTB Downhill Handlebar 2014

ENVE Composites Carbon DH Handlebar

ENVE (formerly Edge Composites - new name, same premium quality carbon) proves you can have both lightweight and strength in a bar that stands up to DH use. If you're looking for the absolute in performance from your handlebars, this is the handlebar for you.

Challenging the standards of carbon across the industry, this bar combines maximal stiffness, incredible lightness and unparalleled strength, measuring over 100 mm longer on either end in comparison to similar cross-country bars from other manufacturers -- at around the same weight! Carbon handlebars are quickly becoming standard on high-end DH rigs, and ENVE pulled no punches with this bar. By laying up their carbon in-house in Ogden, Utah, they are able to constantly oversee the production of their products giving you the utmost in quality and reliability. ENVE's confidence in their product is reflected in their 5 year warranty for all products (many times longer than other manufacturers), giving you the peace of mind you need to completely shred the competition.

Strong, Light, Wide, Comfortable,Awesome
Likely the best mtn handlebars available on the market. This offered everything I wanted in a handlebar.I've tried a number of bars, including "alt" bars, but the ones that boosted my control, confidence, and performance the most were a RaceFace Atlas AM/FR and Sunline V1 745mm. I was sold on carbon after trying Easton's CNT Monkeylite (685mm) series, but knew that there was evidence of "cheap" carbon bars breaking, especially at clamp points, so shopping [@](used, counterfeits, defective/refused lots) was out of the question. At first I considered the competition, but, at $90-120, it took me quite a bit of reasoning to even shop for one. None of them really offered exactly what I wanted, from being 711mm (Haven), 720mm (ProTaper), or 740mm with a high rise (Crank Bros), they were narrower than I was looking for, had too high of a rise rise, or had a questionable brand reputation (CB, Joystick). I typically don't see Enve sold anywhere, but I wasn't surprised by the price. When I saw it offered everything I wanted, only the price held me back... do I compromise and save some money? I decided to just go for it and I have absolutely no regrets. I'm not rich by any means, but I feel absolutely no want/need to buy another bar--I'm actually happy I have this bar--it's my favorite piece of bling on my bike and brings a smile to my face looking at it up close. This has also contributed to making me ride really only 1 bike out of my "quiver".This bar has been proven on the World Cup DH series by the fastest riders. If you watch Men's DH racing, you know they really push the limits, gamble, and risk life/limb to win. It's also extremely light, considering how wide it is. With the extra width, that's a lot of carbon going into it. 800mm was a bit wide for me, but it was extremely easy to cut down to 760 and then 740mm, which I found to be very close to my sweet spot (prob 745mm). I find these to be very worth the price. Buy once, buy right, buy "forever".

PROS: Wide with cut off marks, Very strong and reliable, Very lightweight, Comfortable

CONS: Price tag shock

Enve Bars Rock!
Don't let the "Downhill" label sway you. If your looking for the best wide carbon bars on the market for your mountain bike, these fit the bill. I have broad shoulders and the width of these bars put the grips right about benchpress width. I have a set on my Trail / Enduro bike and another set on my SS. Add a 50mm stem and the response is amazing.

Put these on my AM bike, having intended to put them on the DH bike - 800m felt crazy wide initially, but got comfortable very quickly - I might be keeping these and getting a second set. Came to them from Easton Havoc Carbon, these are about the same weight, despite the extra width, and very similar in terms of rise/sweep. No flex that I can see/feel, but they're not harsh in any way. Bars looks great, finish is perfect, roughened finish at the clamp area is a useful touch.

Minor criticism - there are no markings for lining up the bars or centring them - Easton bars had useful lines so that you can centre the bars in the stem and maintain the same sweep/rise. A few graduated lines on the bars would be a useful touch. Yes, I had to really search for a bad point.

The best you can get, professional grade
If you want the best technology can offer , don't debate just treat your self to a ENVE
Bar set. I installed the bars on a brand new Ibis HD combined with a spike spank stem. The handling is amazing. Reduced vibration is considerable. After 5 hours of rock gardens and drops. My arms were still fresh and ready for more. I highly suggest for DH, free ride and Racing. Over kill for beginners and long XC flats.
I'm an ENVE customer for life.

BEST Carbon bars ever!
I have been debating on two types of carbon bars especially on the weight and comfort. The Easton Havoc carbon or these Enve DH. After riding my fellow rider's bike that also has the Enve DH carbon bars. The comfort was there, though the Havoc's 50mm width difference.

Also at the same time, I am currently building a new mountain bike from the ground up. And choosing the best quality parts out there.
