Ergon GE1 MTB Enduro Grips

Ergon GE1 MTB Technical Grip

The Ergon GE1 is a newly designed lock-on grips developed specially for gravity bikes. Knowing that riders in this category run extra wide bars with a generous bend to their elbow, the GE1 grip was made to reduce fatiguing in the arms and hands to provide the comfort Ergon products are known for. The GE1 grips employs two different rubber compounds, one of which is used in a texturized zone facing opposite of nature rotation of the hand to prevent your hands from slipping around and ultimately making for a more comfortable grip.

Ergon GE1 MTB Grip Features

  • Optimized ergonomics for wide MTB handlebars
  • Works with the typical arm and upper body position used on technical trails and downhills
  • Texture opposed the rotation of the hand while riding, and is angled to support the arm and upper body position
  • Improved pressure distribution in the thumb area
  • Internal core with cut outs complements grip textures
  • Additional damping on grips external edges
  • Multiple grip textures for improved feel
  • Surface profile promotes maximum grip
  • Clamps securely, even on carbon bars

Excellent grips!
I originally bought these to help combat wrist pain while riding my trail bike. I liked them well enough to want to try them on my downhill bike, as well. These are the only grips I've used so far that allow me to ride 2 days in a row at a bike park without my hands aching after I'm done.

My only complaint would be the durability. After about 4-6 months of being swapped between two bikes, they are showing signs of wear. Aside from that, they've been great.

PROS: Reduced Hand Fatigue, Comfortable, Easy To Install

CONS: Durability

BEST USES: Downhill, all mountain

Best grips
A lot of folks like the lock on grips and everyone has their preferences. These are light and comfortable and lock on. I ride these grips on my single speed and my Enduro and my race HT. No complaints at all. Just enough padding to keep you fresh on long rides and just enough shape to help out with bike positioning whilst in the air.

Awesome grips
Bought a pair of these for my wife to use. She loves them said they were the best grips she's used. She raved about them so much that I got some for myself. supple grip but not at the expense of durability. Grip in all the right areas but not to soft. They really are great grips I'm just not sure they are worth the additional $15 over an ODI set. But they are unique and sexy and that counts for something. I actually wanted to get my wife the slim green until I realized the rubber was colored and not the metal, that was a big deterrent.

PROS: Grippy, Durable, Easy To Install

CONS: Colored Rubber Not Metal

I have "average size" hands, (my wife doesn't complain) and the regular size grips fit great. I didn't like the slim size. Nice feel while riding.

These grips are awesome!
If you run wide bars these grips are a must. I used to run skinny grips but my forearms and elbows started to bother me as I got older. I switched over to ESI grips hoping it would help but they weren't much better. Researched Ergon and their ergonomic products and decided to give these GE1 grips a shot. They look great, super comfy, great grip, and way less pain in my wrists, elbows and forearms. Disclaimer...I ride with gloves for those of you that ride glove less.

Nice looking, comfortable grips.
The GE1 grips look great, the oval shape is very comfortable and the newer lock-on style works great with carbon bars. My bars aren't extraordinarily wide, and the grips are still comfortable. I might rate the GA1Evo as slightly more comfortable, but these look better and I prefer the lock-on with these.

My only real concern is the soft end probably isn't going to hold up very well if I brush up against a tree or rock. So far, so good, though!

PROS: Carbon-compatible, Comfortable, Attractive

CONS: Pricey

Best grips in the biz!
Best grips I've used so far! I'd gladly purchase them again once they're worn out. They are very comfortable and also very durable. A few weeks back I rode a 100 kms XC race in Parguera, Puerto Rico, and they handled the strain of a long ride incredibly well. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend this to anyone in need of comfortability and above all, trustworthy products for their bikes!

Second set for other bike
bought one set for new build and liked so much putting on other bike. Work very well with wide bars to help get varying hand positions quickly and with confidence during different riding situations. Comfortable and just the right amount of cushion.

Well worth the money
These are my favorite grips of all time. They flare out a bit towards the middle and index fingers to allow for a more ergonomic grip that prevents hand/forearm fatigue and gives you a better riding posture with the elbows bent outwards. Because of the closed end design, they will add a little length (1/4 inch?) to each end of the handlebars.

Is there a version of the GE1 that works for grip shifters?
Andrew P on Feb 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello Andrew,

There is no version of GE1 for gripshift, but you can take a look on the new "GA2 Single Twist Shift" I suppose that this model will be available soon here at Jenson.

Regards.
The color of the green looks more yellow in the picture. Can you describe if it is more yellow than green?
Dave on Aug 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They're not as yellow as that picture makes them look. It's pretty much the
same color of green that Ergon puts on the packaging for their grips and
saddles.
