Adding a dropper post to your Mountain Bike will change the way you ride forever. The option to drop your seatpost on-the-fly gives you the confidence to tackle technical terrain that you may have skipped over in the past because you couldn't easily get your seat out of the way. Because of this, dropper posts have quickly become a top choice when it comes time to make upgrades to your rig. FSA jumps into the arena with their newly released, fully adjustable dropper post. The FSA dropper post features 125mm of travel, internal routing compatibility, a 360-degree actuation remote, full angle seat adjustability, and all the quality you would expect from an FSA product.
Okay, so I got the seat post in excellent time (thanks Jenson) and immediately went to install it onto my knolly. First issue I noticed, however, is that the cable housing, the way it was wrapped and packaged a little to tightly, and so there are about 8 every so slight bends in the housing. Nothing major, but aesthetically not great.
So I'm installing it, everything is going fairly well. Until I get to the last step, attaching lever to handlebar. The ring of course it a tight fit around the bars. Thats fine, up until the point where I can't get the bolt back into its bore to tighten the lever down. The next 45 minutes was a game of " oh, its catching-" straight into "nope, its stripping, loosen and try again." Until it is so stripped so far down from the repeated mis-threads that I figure, better to just re-bore the thing. So I did, got in onto my bars, and will now never take them off again.
I sat on the seat, hit the lever, and... nothing happened. I bounced, nothing. I get off, hold the lever down as far as I can, and shove the seat post down with my hand as hard as I can. A few attempts later and I get it to go down. I'm assuming it was just a bit stiff, because of I did that a few times, I could sit on it, hit the lever, and the action going down and coming up is perfect.
This is my first dropper post. It was a bit heavier than I expected, but its a dropper post, so more weight is to be expected I guess.
I had a few issues between unboxing and getting it ride ready, but now its working perfectly, so I geuss all's well that ends well. I'd recommend this post, but I'm sure there's a better option out there.
