I had a newer King 1 1/8 headset and was going to run a 1 1/8 fork on my new 1.5 head tubed trail bike. I went with this to save a little money over buying a quality 1.5 headset. DIdn't want to install a cheap 1.5 headset. It went in easily and is strong. I expected it to be a little lighter, that's the only con.

Until there is a standard for forks and headtubes, this product will be useful. I decided to run a CK headst from a previous bike and this was an economical route to go to run 1 1/8 on a 1.5 frame.

I guess I thought that this would just drop into the existing headset and would act more like a bushing between the steer tube and the headset. I still got it to work, thank god I had an old headset layin around. Maybe I misunderstood or maybe its not explained that well, I don't know. Either way, it works and I'll just have to get a new headset now.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The reducer bushing is too tall to fit in the 1.5" lower headset seat of Trek/Fisher e2 headtube geometry bikes.

I had a shop install it and I would suggest having a shop install it so you dont mess up your headtube. The way it is built this converter actually makes your headtube stronger and these things add almost no weight to your front end. Also when you use this you can run any 1 1/8" headset which is cheaper than an oversized one.
