Five Ten Sam Hill Shoe

Built for speed and grip, the new Sam Hill V2 Signature shoes stick to pedals like burrs. Sam gave up clipless pedals for downhill races—and his choice of Five Ten has helped deliver him to the podium more times that you can count. Cut low for flexibility, the Sam Hill’s sport super-sticky Stealth™ S1 soles and a protective PU midsole that provides excellent torsional stability. The Sam Hills have moderately flexible midsoles for on-the-edge control. Note - Does not have mounting points for clipless pedal cleats

Comments about Five Ten Sam Hill Shoe:

they have great traction, and there for you will feel so confident descending the hills and jumping over the bumps and gaps, theres no chance to slip your shoe from the pedal. they are not a long distance walking shoe, since they are a little bulky and heavy but if your concern is to have a good grip this is it, it feels almost like if you were cliped, as a matter of fact, it will take a good effort to change your shoe position once youre set on the pedals, so be careful.

New to mountain biking after years of road riding. Was not sure about how to go with shoes - but love these shoes on the pedals that I have. Very firm grip, lift and adjust when you want but feel very secure on the pedal. Exactly what I wanted. Can hop off the bike and walk as well.

Comments about Five Ten Sam Hill Shoe:

After deciding to eschew the whole SPD thing on my mountain bikes, it was time for shoes. Overall I'm pretty happy with these with a few nits. The good first.

I've been riding on them for close to a year now and they still look great. I should probably take better care of them but it really doesn't seem to matter. Throw them in the corner, grab when needed.
The grip is excellent, as another stated sometimes I have to pick up and reset my foot. I do use fairly aggressive platform pedals.
It's fun scampering around during a hike-a-bike compared to your SPD wearing buddies. Ditto on remounting while they try to clip in.
Soles are nice and stiff for pedaling.
        Nits:
They are a pretty bulky shoe and I had to find a wide pedal to fit. Was using DMR-V8's and switched to Wellgo MG1's. Better.
Fit: for (again) a big shoe they are somewhat narrow in cut. Also, if you are between sizes get the larger. I'm usually 9.5-10 and the 9.5 had to be swapped for 10.
Another reviewer mentioned getting the laces caught. The elastic lace keeper on top of the tongue has done a good job for me.

Overall, they're not perfect, but if they fit you they're a very solid performer with run-over-with-a-dump-truck tough.

Comments about Five Ten Sam Hill Shoe:

Use as my main shoes now. For commuting, cross country rides, trail rides, and more all mountain stuff. They are just a tad wide on the outside (fit snug as on the inside) for trail and cross country riding, so I am keeping my eye out for something similar with a narrower profile. The grip is really good, after about 2 weeks of relearning to ride flats I have put my SPD pedals aside and gone to Azonic-Five Ten as my contact points.

Comments about Five Ten Sam Hill Shoe:

I've used clipless in one form or another since 1985. Did BMX as a kid and some street and flatland through college. Have a buddy swearing by Five Tens, "They're just like clipless. So they're perfect for an idiot like you since you can get 'more-on' them." Ugh. I decided to pull the trigger and get them. GOOD CHOICE. Heard how you can work your way up to Five Ten Stealth rubber, trying everything along the way, but I can believe they are the best. All my years doing BMX came back intuitively. I'm riding smarter, confidently, and smoother than with clipless. Honestly I can't see how you can be all-mountain savvy unless you put on some Five Tens Stealth rubber at least once. Nicely, I wear 46 in Sidi and the Five Ten 46 was perfect. Had to play with the laces to keep the blood flowing, but worth the tinkering.

Great great shoe. Best grip in a shoe w/ sam's styling. Comfy to wear anywhere. Only complaint
is the laces can get caught in the chain ring.
I usually tuck my laces into the toe strap on the shoe now...

I'm just a beginner who use to just ride wearing normal joggers, they got torn up in about 2 months. In 2 months these bearly have a mark on them and each time i wear them they become more comfortable. The grip couldn't be better, really happy

Comments about Five Ten Sam Hill Shoe:

I thought they were to bulky the first time putting these shoes on. However, after taking one run down the course I was in love. Super sticky sole allows my feet to be in just about any position without slipping. Sometime it seems a bit too grippy as I'll have to slightly life my foot to reposition.
There's no cover for the laces so they just flop around. I always jus end up tucking them in the lower part of the laces.
Super tough shoe, can't see anything on the trail could ever hurt these things.
