2015 Fox 34 Float 140 CTD FIT 29" w/Trail Adjust
The 34 Float 140 is the All-mountain fork you want navigating the front end of your build. The Fox Float uses an air spring, which reduces the overall weight of the fork and provides no shortage of adjustability. With 140mm of silky smooth, golden travel, the Float is the perfect augment for any big-hooped 29" Trail or All-mountain rig. Fox has upgraded the Float series by giving it a longer negative spring and reducing the air spring compression ratio for a more linear feel. Power up sheer hairpins, mow through rock gardens, and gracefully bomb down technical descents, with undiscovered levels confidence.
To ensure that your travel is buttery smooth, Fox has added Kashima coating to the uppers. Kashima coating is a hard anodizing process that fills in micro pores that may exist in the material, creating a smoother surface in comparison to a hard anodization on prior versions. Its distinctive gold color is backed by its high performance attributes including extreme durability as well as an extremely smooth feel. The whole purpose and value of the Kashima coating is its friction reduction properties, while the aesthetic value is always a cherry on top.
The 2015 Float features Fox's FIT (Fox Isolated Technology) cartridge. FIT technology employs a bladder system that keeps the oil and air from mixing, providing optimal performance in all riding extremes. Since the FIT cartridge uses much less oil, the weight of the fork is significantly less than one with an open bath style.
CTD Technology is incredibly easy to use, essentially allowing you ultimate adjustability to the trail. CTD is short for Climb, Trail, and Descend, and is a three position on-the-fly system that provides three distinct compression dampening that you’d typically need on an average ride. CTD is extremely useful on trails with erratic terrain. The rider is quickly able to flip the lever between the three positions on the fly to ensure the perfect amount of travel for that very moment in the ride. CTD is much faster than the older click system, where the rider would have to stop and click through to find the proper setting.
Climb mode has the firmest low- speed compression, which maximizes pedaling efficiency and has minimal suspension movement to reduce pedal-bob. Internally, the oil flow is restricted, and can only flow through the Climb port, which limits the suspension’s movement. In the event of a hard impact, the spring loaded blow- off valve will allow the damper to go into its travel. Trail mode provides an optimal blend of pedaling efficiency and control on variable terrain. The oil flow is opened to the mid and high speed compression shim stack. Descend mode provides the rider with the most active suspension. Descend mode is an optimized low- speed compression setting which provides the perfect balance of control and plushness for steep, aggressive descents. Oil is able to flow through the high, mid, and low speed ports. CTD is easily controlled by switching the dial on the crown of the fork. This quick and easy adjustment allows the rider to control their suspension without having to leave the saddle.
This version of the Float offers Adjustable Trail mode. Once the knob is set to Trail mode, this fork allows the rider to have an extra 3 clicks of trail mode adjustability (soft, medium, and firm.) Adjustable Trail mode acts as a fine tune low speed compression adjustment, providing the rider with maximum front-end suspension adjustability on the trail.
This particular Fox 34 29” fork features a G2 offset (51mm rake). While keeping the wheel base the same, the G2 offset reduces the horizontal distance between the steering axis and wheel center by offsetting the fork which improves handling on 29” bikes. The hand position moves back and the fork offsets forward which reduces trail without affecting the headtube angle.
