The FOX 34 Float 160 CTD w/ Trail Adjust is the trail fork you want controlling the front end of your build. The FOX Float uses an air spring, which reduces the overall weight. The Float Factory Series has 160mm of buttery smooth, Kashima Coated travel. Add this to any trail bike and you’ll have the ultimate setup for any 650b trail bike. Roll down steep terrain, mow over rock gardens, and bomb through singletrack with the ease of mind in knowing that your suspension fork can tackle just about anything that comes its way. Newly revised, the Float’s air spring now has less breakaway force, a longer negative spring and reduced the air spring compression ratio for a more linear feel.
Kashima coating has been used in the automotive and motocross industries for some time, and due to its high performance in these fields Fox chose to bring that technology to bicycle suspension as well. Kashima coating is a hard anodizing process using molybdenum disulfide to fill in any micro-pours in the stanchion material, leaving them with the iconic gold coloring, and providing buttery smooth suspension travel every time.
The FOX Float features the FIT cartridge. FIT (which stands for Fox Isolated Technology) employs a bladder system that keeps the oil and air from mixing to provide optimal performance in all riding extremes. Since the FIT cartridge uses much less oil, the weight of the fork is significantly less than one with an open bath style.
With CTD adjustments at the ready, the FOX 34 Float can be quickly and easily configured to best suite the trail you’re riding. CTD Technology is simple to use and allows you a wide range of adjustability on the trail. CTD (which stands for Climb/Trail/ Descend) is a three position on-the-fly system that provides three distinct compression dampen settings that are typically needed on a mountain bike ride. CTD is extremely useful on trails with diverse terrain and trail conditions as the rider can quickly flip the lever between the three positions to ensure the perfect amount of rebound for any trail situation.
Climb mode uses the firmest low-speed compression, which maximizes pedaling efficiency and has minimal suspension movement to reduce pedal-bob, a useful tool when climbing. Internally, the oil flow is restricted, and can only flow through the Climb port, which limits the suspension’s movement. In the event of a hard impact, the spring loaded blow-off valve will allow the damper to go into its travel. Trail mode provides an optimal blend of pedaling efficiency and control on variable terrain. The oil flow is opened to the mid and high speed compression shim stack. Descend mode provides the rider with the most active suspension. Descend mode is an optimized low-speed compression setting which provides the perfect balance of control and plushness for steep, aggressive descents. Oil is able to flow through the high, mid, and low speed ports. CTD is easily controlled by switching the dial on the crown of the fork. This quick and easy adjustment allows the rider to control their suspension without having to leave the saddle. CTD technology will change the way you ride, making it quicker and easier for you to adapt your bike to the terrain ahead.
The FOX 34 Float features FOX's CTD Adjustable Trail mode. Once the knob is set to Trail mode, this fork allows the rider to have an extra 3 clicks of trail mode adjustability (soft, medium, and firm.) Adjustable Trail mode acts as a fine tune low speed compression adjustment. Trail Adjust mode provides the rider with maximum suspension adjustability on the trail.
