The Fox 36 Float features an air spring, which helps keep the weight very minimal. Strong 36mm stanchions that reduce fork flex. This light yet strong fork will steer you through the most technical downhill sections. The Float’s 180mm of suspension will gobble up roots, ruts, and boulders in your way. When you are racing downhill, you need a fork that is just as strong as a competitor as you are.
Fox has been busy for 2013. They made some monumental changes to the Fox series. The Float series now features less breakaway force as compared to the prior model year. Fox has also upgraded the Float series by giving it a longer negative spring and reduced the air spring compression ratio for a more linear feel.
To ensure that the suspension is buttery smooth, the stanchions have been Kashima coated. The Kashima coating is a hard anodizing process that fills in any micro pores in the material creating a smoother surface, in comparison to a hard anodization on prior versions. Its distinctive gold color is backed by its high performance attributes including extreme durability as well as an extremely smooth feel. The whole purpose and value of the Kashima coating is its friction reduction properties.
The FIT RC2 damper employs a bladder system that keeps the oil and air from mixing to provide optimal performance in all riding extremes. Since the FIT cartridge uses much less oil, the weight of the fork is significantly less than one with an open bath style. The lighter damper is also inverted in the fork which reduces unsprung weight.

I freeride and downhill. These forks are awesome for any rugged terrain. They are rigged, predictable, and are reliable. I have no complaints so far. I've been riding them for three months and no issues. The kashima coating really helps these stay plush. They are buttery smooth! I love them...
