I was looking for some armor that could be taken on and off without needing to remove my shoes. These were by far the best fitting and simplest of the bunch. However, they also had some disadvantages. Mainly that the connection between knee and shin is too thin, at times allowing the plastic to dig into your leg. In the end I was lucky enough to find my misplaced original sixsixone 4x4 - knee and shin pads (light and comfy), and simply cut the backing off leaving the 4 velcro straps for quick on/off use. However, the Fox guards offer greater protection in sharp rocks so they are worth considering.
