Since day one GT has been no stranger to the rugged, untamed world of mountain biking. As an industry leader in technology, GT has made a name for itself by consistently setting the standards by which the competition obeys. GT Bicycles have been at the forefront of success in the World’s top mountain biking events, such as the 2013 World Cup at Fort William and Val di Sole, where Rachel and Gee Atherton took double victories at both (back to back) events. GT does not only strive for success in the Elite level of racing, but at all levels and in all disciplines, for all riders. Take a gander at GT’s 2014 Force collection, and you’ll be quick to notice this to be true.
Swing your leg over the 2014 GT Force Carbon Pro and worry not about whether or not your rig can handle the trails, but worry about whether or not you’ll be able to pry yourself from the saddle after an invigorating day of trail-shredding. GT has laid the foundation for the Force Carbon Pro with the COR All Mountain Philosophy, FOC Ultra Carbon Frame that includes a 150mm Travel Independent Drivetrain® and AOS (Angle Optimized Suspension) Suspension System that separates your pedal stroke from the actual suspension, allowing all of your energy to be exerted into the pedals so that your suspension only reacts when you need it to. A high main pivot allows the wheel to move in the direction of the impact, improving small bump sensitivity.
The Force Carbon Pro is outfitted with a Fox 34 FLOAT 27.5 CTD FIT up front and a Fox Racing Shocks Float CTD BV in the rear, providing nearly six inches of travel throughout, for a satisfying combination of trail absorption and responsiveness. The Fox 34 FLOAT 27.5 CTD FIT features lockout and rebound adjustments, and 15mm axle with a quick release lever.
Designed for the kinds of riders who feel cleaner the dirtier they get, the Force Carbon Pro is equipped to get you up close and personal with the mud and grime. Shimano Deore XT makes up the bulk of the drivetrain including both derailleurs, shifters, and crankset to bring you high performance and serious off-road fun, at the best price-to-performance ratio. The Force Carbon Pro cockpit is assembled with a resilient, yet immensely attractive assembly that includes a Race Face handlebar and stem, and a Fizik Gobi XM Mg saddle. Highlighting the already stellar cockpit is the RockShox Reverb Stealth dropper seatpost that uses clean, internal hose-routing to allow you to control both position and return speed ensuring your seat is always at the right height.
The 27.5” (650B) wheel size has become the talk of the town, for having the speed and rollover capabilities that was once only known in the 29” world, while still offering the agility and nimbleness of a 26” bike. The Force Carbon Pro was designed to work in conjunction with GT’s AOS technology and the Optimized Pivot Placement for unsurpassed roll-over performance. The completely e*thirteen built wheelset featuring large flanges and a huge carbon fiber shell, paired with Continental X-King tires, provide bullet proof durability, stiffness, and optimal traction in the corners, at a XC scale reading. When your horse gallops as fast as the Force Carbon Pro, optimum stopping power is required, which is no wonder why GT put its faith in the Formula T1 disc brakes and brake levers to stop this stallion.
All in all the Force Carbon Pro is constructed and assembled to crush any such terrain you may encounter out on the trail; completed with a short stem, wide bars, and a long front center, giving you the control that you require when bombing downhill, while giving you the room to bolt back uphill. The 150mm of top-notch suspension travel on both the front and the rear, combined with an aggressive geometry brings forth a bike that is very capable on just about any trails.
