The GT Force Carbon Sport features the new F.O.C. Am™ Carbon frame with 150mm of travel with Independent Drivetrain™ suspension platform. F.O.C. AM or Force Optimized Construction yields a frame that’s extremely rugged and lightweight. Using Finite Element Analysis software, GT is able to more closely examine the forces affecting a frame. Using this information GT can make a frame that rides the way they want without sacrificing strength and durability. Independent Drivetrain™ or I-Drive is unique in that regardless of how the rear wheel moves, it won’t pull on the chain, crank, or pedals. This results in improved pedaling efficiency. With I-Drive you’ll notice reduced drag, preserved momentum, and a faster smoother ride. The frame also features a tapered head tube which adds increased strength and rigidity to the head tube, which produces better steering capabilities. Internal cable routing decreases the chance for cables to become contaminated and is aesthetically pleasing.
Though the frame it’s self is a work of art, the Force Carbon Sport offers much more on top of that. The Rock Shox Sektor RL solo air fork has 150mm of travel, a 15mm maxle, adjustable rebound, and a lockout. The steer tube is tapered which reduces fork flex while riding. The Fox Shox Float RL rear shock provides 150mm of travel with adjustable rebound. The Shimano Deore RapidFire shifters in conjunction with the Shimano Deore crank, Shimano SLX front derailleur, and Shimano SLX 10 speed rear derailleur create an unbeatable drivetrain. ALL TERRA hubs have been laced to DT Swiss E540 wheels with DT Swiss Competition spokes; this results in strong wheels that are resilient no matter what riding condition you may find yourself in. The Force Carbon Sport features the X- Fusion HiLo seatpost with 100mm of height adjustment. The X-Fusion seatpost allows you to stay on your bike longer. There will no longer be the need to pull over to adjust your saddle height for the section ahead. The Force Carbon Sport has gobs of other goodies that will make your eyes light up.
If you are riding the fence between grabbing a hard core enduro/ all- mountain mountain bike or a cross light weight cross country bike, the Force Carbon Sport may be the answer to your dilemma. The carbon frame is űber lightweight, yet it is strong and resilient. The bike is spec’d to hit any mountain with grace.

Comments about GT Bicycles GT Force Carbon Sport Mountain Bike 2012:
Its a very nice bike, turns easy, climb very well, its my first trail bike and i love it, its a real XC in the climbs, and almost DH in the going down, it has some design problems like the wiring, nothing to worry.

Coming from a hardtail, this bike is totaly diffrent than what i'm used to. I'm 6' 1" and I ordered an XL, none the less, it has been an easy transition. The GT Force Carbon Sport is lighter than my preivous bike. Its rides faster, turns quicker, climbs easier and is a much more agile bike overall. The bike is extremely responsponsive to any little body movement no matter how subtle. This responsiveness was probably the hardest thing to transition into. The frame is extremely stiff which i find to be a plus and the suspension components make for a very comfortable ride. The CG of the bike is more towards the rear compared to my previous bike; this was maybe the second hardest thing to transition in to. When climbing, i have a tendancy to stay on the seat as much as possible and this was causing me to almost fall back in some instances due to the rearward CG of the bike so, i have adjusted for this by changing my climbinbg style. I think going downhill is the most fun with this bike. The 150MM fork is able to handle almost any downhill terrain it comes across and the rearward CG of the bike really helps keep the bike stable. Overall the GT Force Carbon Sport is a great bike an is highly recommended by me.
Comments about GT Bicycles GT Force Carbon Sport Mountain Bike 2012:
I really like this bike! I ride it on the trails in the Loess Hills by the Missouri River. The Frame is light but sturdy and strong. The seat is really handy; I don't have to stop to adjust the height, I can change it on the fly. And with the cables inside the frame, it has a sleek look.
All in all, with a gel seat cover, it is a comfortable, fast bike that is a joy to ride.
Comments about GT Bicycles GT Force Carbon Sport Mountain Bike 2012:
I am a 5' 8" tall female with a longish torso. I have traditionally been a cross country rider but recently started riding downhill at Mammoth Mountain. I just had my 2nd kid 3 months ago and purchased this bike on sale as a "graduation" gift to myself.
The bike was shipped to me so I couldn't test ride it. I was a bit unsure if I took a medium or a small. I decided on a medium because my last Specialize FSR dual suspension was a medium. When I first unpacked it I thought for sure it was too big. I barely had an inch of clearance over the lowest part of the frame. The bikes travel and ground clearance was much bigger then I was accustomed to so I felt high above the ground. However, top tube length felt perfect and I when I took it for a quick spin, the bike felt good.
The big test was today. I did several runs off the top of Mammoth Mountain and the bike felt great. It has lots of travel for a smooth ride down but the frame is mega stiff so when the shocks are locked out, the bike climbs well.
The seat post was also handy. It perhaps could be switch out for a regular seat post if you are concerned about weight, but for Mammoth it was great to be able to lower and raise the seat on the fly. The only bummer is I now have to purchase a new bike rack for my Yakama roof rack. Because the front fork does not have traditional drop outs, I need to purchase a top mount rack that allows me to put the entire bike on the rack. In the past, I have always had a rack system that worked when you took the front tire off.
This is a FUN bike on the downhill but one that is still light enough for long cross country rides.
