GT Sensor Carbon GX Jenson Bike 2015

GT Sensor Carbon Jenson Custom GX 11 SPD Bike 2015

Since day one GT has been no stranger to the rugged, untamed world of mountain biking. As an industry leader in technology, GT has made a name for itself by consistently setting the standards by which the competition obeys. GT Bicycles have been at the forefront of success in the World’s top mountain biking events, such as the 2013 World Cup at Fort William and Val di Sole, where Rachel and Gee Atherton took double victories at both (back to back) events. GT does not only strive for success in the Elite level of racing, but at all levels and in all disciplines for all riders. Take a gander at the 2015 Sensor collection, and you’ll be quick to notice this to be true.

The GT Sensor Carbon Jenson GX 11 speed bike is ready to brawl. Do whatever it takes to make it to the weekend because there’s some business out in those woods that needs to get handled, and the GT Sensor is the tool for the job. This bike offers a wallop of performance in a lightweight package. The Force Optimized Construction carbon frame, with its 150mm Rocksox Revelation fork and Fox Float CTD rear shock lays down a solid foundation for the JensonUSA handpicked components. At the heart of the build is a SRAM GX 1x11 Speed drivetrain to drive the power to a set of Race Face Affect 27.5” wheels wrapped in Scwalbe Nobby Nic rubber. Located on the Race Face Ride cockpit you will find the controls for the powerful SRAM Guide Brakes.

Wow. This bike took 19 minutes off my 2hr 20 personal best
I was considering a lower level Sensor or Helion when I discovered this carbon version for similar price. Glad I got it. The frame and suspension are the same as the uber high end GT Carbon Sensor Team, but the other components are fully capable but value priced Sram GX. I was immediately impressed with the ride and handling. The suspension rolls over rocks and roots in the descend mode like they aren't even there, but you can still get out of the saddle and hammer. Switching to climb mode and this thing claws up everything I've tried so far. The lateral stiffness of the frame and fork make steering nimble and precise.

The proof to me was the first time I let it stretch it's legs on my favorite 20 mile tight twisty single track with 2000 ft of short steep climbs. It took 19 minutes off my personal best time of 2 hrs 20 minutes. And even then my average heart rate was lower and I felt more confident in the technical sections and cornering than I did on my GT Verb Expert that this replaced. I love this bike.

Sweet Ride
I bought this bike because it was the lowest priced carbon mountain bike I could find in the all mountain category and this was a great deal at Jenson. I was pleasantly surprised by the Rock Shox reverb seat post which is great for descents and the on the fly 3 setting lockout on the rear shock as well as the adjustable travel on the front shock. I have only ridden once but put it through a work out with some hairy descents with medium drop offs and a very steep climb with loose rocks and small ledges. It is much more plush than my old Giant XTC cross country full suspension bike. There is still a little bob when climbing even when locked out. It would be nice to have just a slight bit more travel in front. Honestly, if I had seen the deal on the Intense Carbine I probably would have bought that bike but this bike has more features and I like it.

This bike ROCKS!
Are you kidding me with this price? I sometimes get a bit optimistic in what I expect of my purchases, but this is the real deal. 27.5", amazing suspension, light carbon frame and super smooth dropper as well as 1x11 gearing.

The GT rear suspension is very unique as the drive train is below the pivot so it helps with hill climbing. I have taken this up some steep rooty hills in Pittsburgh PA and this climbs like a goat. But then the descent is fast too. Fast enough that I am using more brake than before.

I do with this had the 180 front rotor, but I can add that easy enough.

Delivery it took some time to receive. But I could understand that how busy they are with many orders, famous.
So order in advance to void lead time!hhh Other than that everything is so much great, they are so knowledgeable and kind. They really help me to get my bike set. I asked a lot of questions they answered me with details and information. Actually I learned a lot, I now wanted talk more with them and hoping go ride with them.

Love It!
Overall, I really like the feel of the bike and the components are all top shelf. I generally ride a Large on other brands and this Large is a perfect fit.

I had a couple of problems with the bike when it arrived, but Jenson took care of everything right away. The Jenson service rep pointed out a small sentence near the bike geometry specs noting that they can swap components as needed for the build. The sentence does not mention that the component swaps are of equal or greater value, but this is my expectation.
1. The bike has a full XT build instead of SRAM GX. I like XT and don't have any problems with Shimano, but was surprised when the bike arrived.
2. The specs show a 180mm front rotor and the bike was delivered with 160mm. Jenson sent a 180mm rotor for me to swap it.
3. The fork has 150mm of travel, not 130mm as noted in the specs.

Best Impulse Buy Yet
Arrived in great condition but with incorrectly sized front rotor and fork was advertised as a 130MM but arrived with a 150MM. I believe now the marketing online has been updated to display the 150MM variant. Arrived in pristine condition. Jenson backs up their builds with reimbursements for shop time with fixing any errors so why wouldn't you buy a bike online from them? Been a great experience for me!

So the GT Sensor carbon GX is not equipped with SRAM but equipped with shimano components?
UncleSully on Oct 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This build comes with SRAM GX components. Jenson had this bike in an XT build but has since sold out of it. My bike arrived with SRAM GX components and since the XT build is now sold out I don't see there being any possibility for mixing the builds up.
Hope this helps!
Hi, just like to check if I'm 180cm tall which size should I go for? And is this a brand new bike?
Mark on Jun 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello Mark,

I'm about 177cm, and I felt most at home on the medium size. At 180cm you are right on the cusp of medium and large. Ultimately, this means that you have some options. The medium will feel a bit more agile under you, while a large would stretch you out just a touch and give a more stable ride down the mountain. I would push you towards the large, but you could safely ride a medium as well.
I loaned a kid I'm coaching my specialized sx long and it got stolen in Arizona after he raced sea otter but thank God his sister had renters insurance so I sent him pic of this bike and he got me a large.. I'm 6'1" and use to 26"wheels so this mug feels big.. Waiting on 40mm stem to hopefully make it feel better or should I exchange for the medium? I know it's totally different than what I'm use to but any recommendations before I really let er rip?
