Comments about Garmin Forerunner 50 Heart Rate Strap KT:
Got this thing as an extra with a Forerunner watch. It syncs up with the watch pretty easily, just a matter of setting the connectivity. The reading it provides, after a moment of sync time, is accurate and seems to provide immediate feedback. So it does what its supposed to.
Now time for a few issues: it is a bulky shape that has trouble laying flat across the chest (paddles are rubber/plastic and don't contour well). The paddles seem to get a better reading with a layer of moisture on the skin (I believe it says this in the manual). It also struggles to stay in just the right place, frequently sliding down during runs. You can tighten it to prevent this, however making it tighter makes it more uncomfortable, so its kind of a lose-lose. My final issue is that if you're running/biking in a group of people and you get close enough to someone else with a garmin heartrate monitor, your watch may pick up their rate instead. This can be annoying and hamper certain types of training.
Overall: does its job pretty well, but has several design flaws.
