GravityDropper Turbo LP Seatpost
As you scan the dropper post aisle, you'll notice that almost all dropper posts out there are either entirely hydraulic or have hydraulic internals. In contrast to the majority of other dropper posts on the market, the GravityDropper Turbo LP is 100% mechanical. However, don't let the word "mechanical" be an automatic definition for "outdated." This is not the case. The completely mechanical makeup includes mechanical actuation, and mechanical internals that control the height and lock of the seatpost. What are the benefits of mechanical versus hydraulic? The answer is superior durability and reliability, as well as lower maintenance.
Unlike the Gravity Dropper Classic, the Turbo does not require tapping the seat to raise it from the down-to-up position, but instead a remote lever allows you to adjust saddle height on the fly. The Low Profile unit allows for ¼" smaller minimum seatpost insertion, while the cable is routed at 90 degrees, making it ideal for setups where the cable could interfere with the top tube. Faster and lighter, the Turbo LP weighs 45 grams less than the Classic, and not to mention, it's made in the USA!
GravityDropper Turbo LP Features
- Lower profile unit that is rotated 90° resulting in cleaner cable routing
- Two positions: fully dropped or fully extended
- Travel/Drop Options: 3", 4", or 5"
- Remote Clamp: Right
- Weight: 666 grams, post, cable and remote
- Made in USA
I've tried other droppers ie: KS LEV and Rockshox Reverb but both seem to have problem, when fully extended it would drop 10-20mm hence a pogo effect while riding in temps below 29F.

I knew going in that the GD was an ugly mechanism but the description said it was 100g lighter than any hydraulic post so I figured, "function over form". Well, the post had a mass with the lever of 595g, not the listed 460g. And the release pin would reengage to lock the seat out. The post also didn't have the middle height adjustment either so there were really just a ton of issues with the one I got so I sent it back.
From what I have read this is an anomaly and these posts are supposed to be great, but the one I got was below my expectation so I will now try the rock shock dropper.
CONS: Heavy, Ugly, Malfunctioning
Q & A
If you run a 1x you may want to consider ordering a right switch & mount on the left side upside down. That's what I did. Gravity dropper parts are cheap when ordered directly from them. I would also add a couple of plastic lever backers during the order to have as back ups.
