Comments about Salsa Cowbell MD 3 Handlebar:

This is a great dirt drop bar with comfortable ergonomics and quality build at a great price. I like the short reach and shallow drop which flares out for some extra leverage and clearance from the hoods for my wrists. It is a little more flare than I prefer and would maybe think twice before putting it on a road bike unless it were for touring. Still, its not nearly as much as some other dirt bars and certainly not too much. Works great on my gravel grinder! I might even order another pair for my budget vintage mountain bike build.

Comments about Salsa Cowbell MD 3 Handlebar:

I switched to these bars from a set of relaxed set that allowed me to ride upright, almost vertical. After a while it got pretty boring and I wanted something more aggressive but it need not be racing. I use these for commuting and touring on a surly cross check with bar end shifters. The are exactly what I was looking for.

Comments about Salsa Cowbell MD 3 Handlebar:

I ordered the Cowbell 2 bars but the size i wanted was on indefinite backorder so i ended up with the Cowbell 3. The CB3s are a little heavier and a little cheaper than the CB2. My initial impression was that the CB3 are pretty heavy for relatively small bars (ie low drop, short reach). Its a matter of grams and I'm not too worried about it, but they are heavier than I'd expect. Maybe I'm just bitter cuz I wanted the CB2s. who knows....

I mounted these bars on a new frame build (All-City Space Horse). So far so good. I love the flared drops, comfortable and accessible. The reach of the bars shorter than what I am used to and it changes the steering/handling a little bit. Makes it a little twickier at high speed. Not a big deal, but it will take some adjustment.

Overall, good bars and they do what they are supposed to.

These are super comfortable in the downs. Unlike similar products, road levers can sit normal so they are not awkward climbing on the hoods.

Thee bars are perfect for me. I was wanting size 48 but these are definitely wide enough and the drops are even wider. Great design I use them on my road bike and they make it so much easier to stay on the bike for hours. Lighter than the stock bars.

Comments about Salsa Cowbell MD 3 Handlebar:

Got these to replace the Salsa bell lap bars (which were previous version of these. These are FAR superior is every way. These are nice and compact in nearly every dimension, and feel stiff and durable. I use them on my commuter/touring bike and they are perfect. I'm sure they would make a good cross handlebar too.

Comments about Salsa Cowbell MD 3 Handlebar:

After searching, buying many alloy drop bars I have decided this bar in a 46cm is large enough for wide shoulders, and had a compact reach to the drops like an FSA Omega compact. I use the FSA on my road bike in a 44cm. I wish it was just a little wider, but it works. One thing to note, the 46cm from salsa is a larger measurement than euro measurements. I'm not sure where they measure from but a 44cm Salsa Pro Road 3 is larger than a 44cm FSA omega by just a bit.
I use the Salsa on a cross bike, but it's not flared enough to be out of the question for a road bike if you needed a wider plate form than that offered for the typically petite riders in the sport.

I was running Salsa Short and Shallows and changed over to the Salsa Cow Bell in a 46cm size. The bars are so perfect for racing cyclocross it is unbelievable. The price is reasonable for such a well thought out design. Really stoked on them!
Would buy a Carbon version if it was available.
