Hayes Radar Disc Brake
In 1997 Hayes took braking performance to a whole new level when they unveiled the first viable disc brake on the market. Today Hayes introduces its Radar hydraulic disc brake system that puts a strong emphasis on a fresh aesthetic, while staying true to their disc brake roots. The Radar hydraulic system features a tool lever reach adjustment for customizable ergonomics, and includes a split clamp system for simple installation. Conveniently, the flip flop design allows the brake levers to be run moto or regular (swappable between left and right) depending on your preferred style.
Through Hayes's Crosshair Alignment, the Radar is just about dummy-proof when it comes to mounting the calipers, allowing the position of the calipers to be dialed in quickly and precisely every time. Once they are mounted, the sintered metallic brake pads are designed to perform in conjunction with Hayes L-series rotors for unparalleled levels of stopping power, while the proprietary treatment type 100 provides the quickest burnish out of the box.
Designed to specifically utilize Hayes's new Venom mineral oil, the benefits are aplenty. Mineral oil is more skin friendly, doesn't damage paint, and doesn't absorb water which gives it a longer shelf life after opening. As it's recommended to use Venom mineral oil with the Radar, it's not required. The brakes might work with other fluids but doing so will void warranty.
With its high adjustability from the reach down to the crosshairs, and its light lever feel and proficient stopping power, the Radar is a superb design for cross-country racers and trail junkies alike.
