Comments about Buff Wool Headband:
This Buff is my absolute best friend during cold winters here in California. Okay, so "cold" is a relative term, but for days when it's around 50 degrees, this thing is the usually only thing standing between freezing to death and not. The fabric is very thin and lightweight, thin enough to breathe through but not so thin that it doesn't block wind. It really keeps you warm even when it's damp, and offers you a lot of warmth despite being so thin. It dries quickly as well so it's useful in a lot of conditions.
Aside from on-the-bike use, I've used it while hiking and camping, where I use it as a face/eye cover while sleeping (sleeping masks help me sleep better) and an easy-to carry scarf while out in colder weather. It folds down thin into a tiny silhouette making it easy to carry in a pocket.
I've been (ab)using mine for over a year and the material is still going strong. It's definitely a bit more "fuzzed out" than when I first got it, but that's primarily because I didn't drip dry it as they suggested, I just threw it in the dryer.
Buy one and a pair of armwarmers and a vest and you'll be prepared for SoCal "winters" or worse.
