Hope Pro 2 Evo 40T 142mm Rear Hub

The Hope Pro 2 EVO hub is one of the best hubs on the market and is constantly improving. Previous models made converting hub axle sizes a snap with re-designed axle end caps. New for 2014, Hope has made some performance enhancements: a new 40 tooth racket. This means more points-of-engagement making for a more responsive ride. The 40t racket also results in a quieter freehub, so it’ll no longer sound like a swarm of bees in chasing you down the trail (don’t worry, it’s not too quite). As with the previous models, the new 40t model also easily converts between axle configurations with a simple end cap change.

  • 6 bolt mounting pattern for disc brake rotors
  • One-piece 7075 aluminium rotor body and pawl carrier
  • Accepts Shimano-compatible 8/9/10 spd cassettes

Great hub with great engagement
I was looking for a good hub at a reasonable price that would give me quick engagement when climbing, navigating rock gardens or other features, etc. This one does just that. The hope has 40 points of engagement which means if you pedal backwards, as soon as you pedal forwards it engages and you are rolling again. This is perfect when climbing, especially in technical areas, as well as when in rock gardens or on other features where pedal position is important. I had this same hub on my last bike and loved it so upgraded to it on my new bike. Very happy with it.

THERE IS HOPE!
i bought this hub because i know that Hope has a great reputation for making a first class product. and that is exactly what they have done here. i paired this up with some DT swiss spokes and an inferno wheel that was stock on my Altitude and it shines and ive put many miles on it now. i kept destryoing hub bodies, just braking the hub bodies right in half, destroyed a few hubs in a matter of days but this has passed my test of time. install is a breeze with some time and a little experience. great product, sounds amazing and engages right away with the 40 tooth 4 pawl design.

Fell apart on me twice
After a summer of riding the bearings were shot. Pulled off freehub and lots of ball bearing broken in half fall out along with lots of pieces of metal. Fanatic bike shop puts in all new bearings and new freehub for about $150. Within a month the same thing happens with metal pieces and 1/2 ball bearings falling out. My friend who owns a bike shop says this is common. I am buying something else and throwing this hub in the trash.
