Hope Pro 4 142mm Rear Hub

Hope Pro 4 142mm Rear Hub

Hope Pro hubs have gained a reputation for being exceptionally versatile, as they can be adapted to just about any axle size and cassette arrangement. Holding true to tradition and building upon the charms of the Pro 2 series hubs, Hope introduces their Pro 4 series hubs which come to us refined with larger flange diameters to improve wheel stiffness, and also allow more interior room for a bigger ratcheting ring, now biting with 44 teeth for a noticeable improvement in engagement speed, equating to snappier accelerations and an overall more responsive ride.

Additionally, the Pro 4 rear hubs get upgraded with a longer freehub body that accommodates the ever so popular 11-speed cassettes from Shimano and SRAM. Not running 11-speed just yet? Fret not, as you’ll still be able to use 8, 9, and 10 speed cassettes (with non-XD freehubs). Knowing that none of this would mean anything if the hub's innards didn’t hold up to the rigors of the trail, Hope didn’t hesitate to use a bigger inboard freehub body bearing to further improve durability. All of these new features come with little-to-no change in weight over the Pro 2 hubs, making a wise decision easy.

Features:

  • 4 Pawl Ratchet with 44 tooth engagement (8.2 deg)
  • Sealed Stainless Steel cartridge bearings for durability
  • Machined from forged 2014 T6 aluminum billet keeps weight low
  • Standard 6 bolt disc fitting
  • Larger spoke flange to enable stiffer wheel builds
  • Weighs a svelte 300 grams

Specifications:

  • Available in 24, 28, 32 and 36 hole drillings
  • Conversions available for QR, 10mm bolt in, 10mm, 12mm and 142x12mm thru axles
  • Supplied with freehubs to suit 10/11spd Shimano or Sram XD cassette
  • Claimed Weight: Weight: 142mm - 300g, XD

Awesome Hub!!!
Bought this to replace the stock Specialized Hi Lo Hub on my 2016 Camber Comp 29er. This hub is solid and makes lots of noise, which I love! That's the sound of engaging pawls that are ready to respond in a split second to your torque! Don't just take my word for it, read some more reviews online and watch some videos on Youtube. This hub is a steal for the price they are charging!

Sweet hub, sweet price
Great hub, laced it up to some Stan's Arch MK3 and it built up just fine. Love the noise Hope hubs make. Anodized color choices are nice too.

Stylish Budget Hub, Poor Bearing Life
I've had these hubs on previous builds. I love the color options and styling but the bearing life has little to be desired. I'll get 4-6 months one these in the PNW and there will be noticeable roughness to the bearings. Free hub operation remains normal but hub and free body bearings don't like to last. Save your dollars for CK's if you can otherwise this is a good budget hub.

If i purchase this cassette along with a hope pro4 142mm rear hub, will i need to purchase the cassette with the pro4 driver as well? Or is that the same driver that would be supplied with the hub? The description on the hub sounds like it comes with a 10/11 speed SRAM/Shimano free hub (versus the pro4 specific driver needed to run this cassette).

BEST ANSWER: If you purchased a standard Pro 4 hub with a Shimano freehub, you'll need to get the cassette with the Pro4 version driver and swap the stock freehub for the driver. The driver looks similar to the Shimano but is physically shorter allowing the use of the 10T small cog.
Hi Guys, I just want to know if this hub is compatible with my Sram GX 1x11 SET

What size is spacer for hub to run xt 11 speed cassette?
A shopper on Dec 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure about specific size, but I ordered my Hope pro 4 hubs here and I'm running XT 11 speed cassette and hub came with everything needed to install with either Sram or Shimano. Sorry couldn't give you specifics.
is this hub only for 11 speed? can't be used at 12 speed drive train
A shopper on Jul 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: All 11 speed hubs are abor to fit the sram eagle cassette as long as they are specd with the xd driver which this one comes with as an option you can select.
I have dt Swiss 350 straight pull. With dt swiss wheels. I want to upgrade to these hubs. Will I need to rebuild my rim with new spokes also. Also will these work? Bike is2015 pivot Mach 6 cc
christopher j on Jul 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No straight pull will not work and you really should use new spokes on a rebuild. The reason is fatigue and rarely are spokes the same exact length. I installed this hub about a year ago and it has worked flawlessly, and much better than the oem as it just rolls.
Any reports of a creaking, clunky sounds coming from this hub when in the highest gears?
A shopper on Jun 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not at all on my bike it is working great. However it does not engage quite as quick at my Kris King hubs so on my DH bike
Hey all- I just got a set of wheels with these Hope Pro 4 hubs, and now need to switch out frames. Is there a Boost extender set for these hubs yet? I've seen a set for the Pro 2s, but not for these.
thanks

BEST ANSWER: I could be wrong, but I think the same adapters for the Pro2 Evo's will work for the new Pro4's

I'm still using old school 135mm hubs.does this one come with the conversion kit when u buy it?because it's showing 142mm on d picture.ty
Francis on Apr 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: These come with the 12x142 configuration out of the box. The hubs do not include conversion kits by themselves, so you'll have to get the endcaps separately. I have attached them.
