Hope Pro 2 Evo 40T 135mm Rear Hub

The Hope Pro 2 EVO hub is one of the best hubs on the market and is constantly improving. Previous models made converting hub axle sizes a snap with re-designed axle end caps. Hope has made some performance enhancements: a new 40 tooth racket. This means more points-of-engagement making for a more responsive ride. The 40t racket also results in a quieter freehub, so it’ll no longer sound like a swarm of bees in chasing you down the trail (don’t worry, it’s not too quite). As with the previous models, the new 40t model also easily converts between axle configurations with a simple end cap change.

  • 6 bolt mounting pattern for disc brake rotors
  • One-piece 7075 aluminium rotor body and pawl carrier
  • Accepts Shimano-compatible 8/9/10 spd cassettes

Love this hub!
I laced this hub to an Arch EX rim with DT Conp spokes. The rolling resistance is smooth and fast. The freehub sound is rewarding and makes me want to go faster. Engagement is quick. All in all, an amazing upgrade to the Shimano M525 it replaced.

Thought it was silly to spend so much on certain parts until my hub broke so I had to see what all the fuss was about and I'm telling you it was like night N day . The engagement was way better and my wheels alot lighter. My bike just felt alot better n faster . I was really moving through the canyons alot quicker than before in fact as I was looking down at my rear hub I came up on the turn alot then anticipated tried to slow down and lean in but slid right off the road O did that hurt for awhile . But up til that point I was was Rocking N Rolling woo what a ride hahaha :D

Awesome hub
I've had this hub in purple now for about 6 months.

My main concern when buying it was that it would be too loud. Turns out, It not too bad and I actually like the sound now. If anything it reminds me that I should be pedaling harder! I built these up with DT spokes and Stans Flow wheels and the wheel set is downhill-grade bombproof ant a reasonable weight. I use it them on my single speed rigid steel 29er and love the stiffness and precision.

Fantastic hub!
Laced mine up with DT Swiss spokes on a Rolling Darryl rim for my Pugsley and couldn't be happier. The 40T design is a little bit quieter than the older Hopes but that's not necessarily a bad thing... The engagement is quick and precise and the new ratchet mechanism sounds nice while buzzing down the trail.

Quality hub
This is my third Hope Pro series hub and also the third type, Pro 2, Pro 2 EVO and this Pro 2 EVO 40T. I've run the Pro 2 and Pro 2 EVO for around 4 and 2 years respectively and they have been mostly great. The EVO hub had a lighter freehub design, which cracked after 100 miles and I replaced it with a SS freehub. The 40T freehub is thicker, like the Pro 2, so I don't think it will have the same issue. I've only put 100 miles on the 40T and it is fine. It still has a buzz, but it's tamed down. I have not noticed any quicker engagement. These hubs are fairly easy to rebuild/repack, only requiring a pair of pliers and a firm grip. The first thing you notice is the coasting speeds. The hubs just roll fast. I have 4000 miles on and 2000 miles on the EVO, no bearing issues to speak of, so I don't see why this hub won't last as long..

PROS: Rebuildable, Durable, Axle Sizing, Easy To Install, Light, Nice Buzz Sound, Lightweight

CONS: Nice Buzz Sound
