Excellent short at a good price
I have been using Hoss Ponderosa Shorts for four years now and I love them. They are reasonably priced but most importantly they are comfortable and work great for mountain biking.

Well I bought these shorts because of the price. They are pretty decent the only thing I do not like about them is the waist band is kinda funky feeling, there is no zipper so you have to pull them over your hips kinda like sweat pants. I would also say these run a little smaller than advertised on the waist, but then again i guess they are elastic for a reason.

these are decent shorts. not the best but for the price you could get these for, these are good deals. some shorts have accurate sizes but others are smaller than regular. i wear a medium and it fits like a medium.

Buy one size up on these puppies and you'll be all set. Comfortable and durable. The tag in the back can be a little itchy, but other than that no complaints.

I will keep these as a back up, but will order a different kind of shorts for everyday use. For the price it's a good back up short, but they aren't well made.

I have six pairs of these and love them. They do fit small so you should order one size up. I have had no problems with durability, in fact I use one pair for commuting and they have close to 100km on them and are still going strong. There is some wear and a few failed stitches on the chamois but after that much use I would expect that. One new pair had a miss sewn belt. I was easily able to fix this. For the price you can't beat these shorts. I have used Oakley, Nema, and Sugoi baggies and the Hoss shorts are the best.
Comments about Hoss Tech. Gear Hoss Ponderosa Shorts 2010:
I agree that they are smaller than advertised, but have not had the issues with them tearing like the others. They work well for the price and I am very pleased. I have Fox and Nema shorts too and these aren't quite the same quality but they work nearly as well for half the price $25. I like mine a lot.

Waste of money! I wore these shorts in a short, non-technical race.. Got home and notice a bunch of "dimples" in the seat area on the outer shell. Couldn't figure it out as it was a clean race, no mud or anything...Wore them the next race and they started tearing in the same area. Seams were fine just thin material. FWIW I'm about 6" 200lbs...

I have used this short for two years (previous year's model) and this short is the exact same model. I purchased this one for a backup to the other since I have enjoyed the previous. This is a great short for warmer weather, breathes well, dries quickly, and has a good chamois. There is lots of pockets to store gels, pockets just like any other pair of regular shorts. I have worn these on 6 hour races, and they have done me well. Any long ride you are going to need chamois cream, I don't care what kind of chamois you have. If you are tearing these up, you need heavier material. Any pair of breathable shorts are going to get torn up with what the others have described. You get what you pay for, $25 isn't bad. I'd buy em for $50.
Comments about Hoss Tech. Gear Hoss Ponderosa Shorts 2010:
XXL is at best a L when compared to the average North American fit of clothing sizes..... Couldn't get them over my thighs (Ski legs... haven't been on my bike for a while), so if you have bike'n thighs good luck with these shorts.
