Ibis is known in the cycling industry for the expert craftsmanship and high-grade materials that go into the manufacturing of their bicycles. To understand how it all started, take a trip back in time to1980. Ibis founder, Scot Nicol read an article about the new “Klunker Bike” movement in the Spring issue of CoEvolution Quarterly—a friendly hippy magazine. The seed was planted. In 1981, in a workshop in Mendocino, California, the first Ibis bicycle was made. Glassy eyed onlookers saw the bicycle and asked Scot if he could produce more. Fast forward 30 years to present-day Ibis: a renowned boutique bicycle manufacturer with humble beginnings that continues to raise the bar in the mountain bike world.
The Mojo HDR 27.5" frame is an extremely versatile design. It can be set up in a number of ways, for a variety of riding styles. Both the HDR 26" and HDR 27.5" share the same frame, making it possible to change wheel size and front and real travel to suit your riding style and terrain. The stock 27.5" model is set up with 130mm of travel in the frame, and is meant to incorporate a 140mm fork. The HDR's mixed tapered headset provides an impressively rigid front end platform. This design combined with the thru axle fork and stiff front end carbon layup make for an extremely precise and sturdy design. Ibis also recently beefed up the lower link of the HDR's suspension to ensure that it will endure mile after mile of abuse. Since the Mojo HDR was born out of innovation, it makes sense that Ibis wouldn't stop at the bare minimum of technical features. The newest version of the HDR features increased clearance for 11 speed drivetrains as well as a removable ISCG chainguide mount, taking the versatility of this already stellar bike to an even greater level.
For the Special Blend build of the Mojo HDR, Ibis put together a rock-solid package that puts owning an Ibis in reach for more price-conscious riders! Taming the bumps and soaking up gravity defying drops is a capable pair from X-Fusion. The X-Fusion Sweep RL2 fork keeps things in control up front and an X-Fusion 02 RLX handles rear wheel impacts. Shimano SLX front and rear derailleurs and Deore shifters keep your drivetrain in check and ensure smooth and efficient shifting, while a Race Face Respond 24/36 crank helps you deliver all the power you need to make it up hills and over obstacles. Stan's Rapid 650b rims laced to Speed Tuned XM hubs provide a strong, speedy rolling platform wrapped in Pacenti Neo-Moto 2.3 tires, and Shimano Deore BR-M615 hydraulic disc brakes give you all the control you need to stop on a dime or modulate your speed on a technical descent. Ibis finishes off the Special Blend package with an Ibis branded cockpit made from 7075 T6 aluminum, giving you a solid yet responsive set of navigation tools.
