Ibis is known in the cycling industry for the expert craftsmanship and high-grade materials that go into the manufacturing of their bicycles. To understand how it all started, take a trip back in time to 1980. Ibis founder, Scot Nicol read an article about the new “Klunker Bike” movement in the Spring issue of CoEvolution Quarterly—a friendly hippy magazine. The seed was planted. In 1981, in a workshop in Mendocino, California, the first Ibis bicycle was made. Glassy eyed onlookers saw the bicycle and asked Scot if he could produce more. Fast forward 30 years to present-day Ibis: a renowned boutique bicycle manufacturer with humble beginnings that continues to raise the bar in the mountain bike world.
The Mojo HDR 27.5" frame is an extremely versatile design. It can be set up in a number of ways, for a variety of riding styles. Both the HDR 26" and HDR 27.5" share the same frame, making it possible to change wheel size and front and real travel to suit your riding style and terrain. The stock 27.5" model is set up with 130mm of travel in the frame, and is meant to incorporate a 140mm fork. The HDR's mixed tapered headset provides an impressively rigid front end platform. This design combined with the thru axle fork and stiff front end carbon layup make for an extremely precise and sturdy design. Ibis also recently beefed up the lower link of the HDR's suspension to ensure that it will endure mile after mile of abuse. Since the Mojo HDR was born out of innovation, it makes sense that Ibis wouldn't stop at the bare minimum of technical features. The newest version of the HDR features increased clearance for 11 speed drivetrains as well as a removable ISCG chainguide mount, taking the versatility of this already stellar bike to an even greater level.
The Mojo HDR XT build is outfitted with the latest Shimano XT 2x10 drivetrain and brake system. XT is Shimano's second tier groupset and is an absolutely great option for value concious riders who demand high performing components. With XT, shifting is smooth and worry free, braking is responsive and powerful, and the smile on your face is a mile wide. The Mojo rolls atop a study set of Stan's ZTR Flow EX 650b wheels wrapped in high performance Pacenti Neo-Moto 2.3" tires. Suspension duties are handled by a Fox Float 34 CTD 140mm in the front and Float CTD Adjust Factory Series in the rear, both with Kashima coat and dialed and plush as can be. Ibis finishes off the XT build with a competitive mix of Ibis branded components in the cockpit.
